As many already said it's not as fictional as WB and IMO women would kill whole atmosphere. + They would need to make new voice overs for dying women.
Anyway i am really glad that there is no women on a battlefield this time around , can't help it it's immersion breaker for me.

Seriously you being ridiculous with those "rights to choose gender"  how many games let you do it ?  Sue them all for being sexist...
>As many already said it's not as fictional as WB
It's not as fictional. It is still fictional.

>IMO women would kill whole atmosphere
There are already women in the game. It's not like a OPTION is forcing everyone. Rather, a lack of option is forcing everyone.

>can't help it it's immersion breaker for me.
There are already women in the game.

>They would need to make new voice overs for dying women.
No, they already have it in MP.

>Anyway i am really glad that there is no women on a battlefield this time around
There are.

>how many games let you do it
Pretty much EVERY open-world RPG game?

>Sue them all for being sexist...
Where did I even mention sue?

The difference is the games that DO let you choose, haven't ever decided to remove that choice in a 'sequel'. The real reason some of us are so outraged, is the previous M&B games allowed it - then a new one comes out that removes something we've grown accustomed too and in exchange we are largely given features that the modders of M&B have already given us.

It just seems a shame that they decide to give us a story and endings, but we lose the freedom of doing whatever we felt like doing that we've grown used too.

Main Point
Ummmmm... With Fire and Sword is based on a book by Henryk Sienkiewicz. Which has a male main character called Jan Skrzetuski.
Maybe thats why you can only be a male character.
I know that because I READ THE FRONT PAGE.
Nothing sexist about it if they are just following the story line.

Okay, do we also have to call ourselves 'Jan Skrzetuski' as well? That kinda sucks, I'd prefer to have a choice of various names, whether they fit into the plot of the book or not.

Of course if we don't have to call ourselves as such, it is clear that following the plot of the book is not too major a concern for the game, and I see no problem with having female characters.

Why does nobody complain about the hundreds of other games without women characters? Don't waste those tears either, put them in the blueberry pie you can make me after you finish whining.

Because those games didn't originally provide the option and then took it away?

 So it's okay to not give the option at all, but if you take it out its suddenly worse...fail I mean uhh yeah... good reasoning there champ

When I bought this expansion pack, I expected it to add, not remove.

Errr.... they do?

For instance Call Of Duty does not have playable female characters yet nobody moans
In call of duty, you don't pick who you want to be. There is no character creation. You can only pick what weapons, and attachments, etc.

But in mount and blade, you can modify the appearance, stats, etc. This is a RPG game. Role Playing Game.

I would draw issue with the use of the dysphemistic word 'moan' instead of the more neutral 'complain' firstly.

Secondly, many people do complain about the lack of female characters in such games.

You may have to learn to 'role play' as a man

I think no one is complaining about those games is because they are almost all linear rpgs. Linear rpgs force you to play a specific way because that is how it was intended. Open world rpgs however almost always allow you to pick your gender.

My main complaint is that someone made the conscious decision to remove even the possibility of playing as a female. The "realism" argument is bullocks because there are already women in the game as mercenaries and peasant fighters. I'm just curious as to why they removed the option to choose, 90% of you would choose male anyway. Heck I'd probably choose male on the second play through. The game changes drastically just from that little change. I just want the option to play it how I want.

Also, fix the armors to fit on a female frame! I hate looking like a gorilla in MP!

Well. Uhm. Yeah that just makes all kinds of sense. If the option was never there to begin with then it doesn't matter.
It'd be like, to use some of your "great" examples to buy the next CoD and they took out the guns and now you only get a knife.

So ? It takes action in specific period , it's not fantasy.

That are set in fantasy/fictional worlds.

you didn't , but you are greatly overreacting. That i wouldn't be surprised if you would sue them

What exactly is your point anyway? This is an argument about ideals, not actualities. I think everyone here accepts that in the game With Fire and Sword, you can not play as a woman; this argument instead is about ideals, i.e. people feel you ought be able to play as a woman.

Sure, considering the actuality of the game, if one wishes to play it, one would have to "[...] learn to 'role play' as a man", but why should one have to?

###EDIT###

Equally, it seems quite clear that no one would lose out from the option to play as a woman: those who choose to play as a female character clearly don't give a **** about your little pseudo-historical reasoning or plot problems, those who don't want to play as a female character don't have to do so and thus it won't impact on their uber-kewl immersion.

Have you noticed you can't play as a man in Portal 1 and 2 yet nobody complains?

How about we compare RPGs rather than puzzle games?

In portal 1 & 2, you have no choice at all.

In WFAS, you have lots of choices, but not your gender.

1. But it is fictional.

2. Do you even have the game?

3. There are games that give absolutely no choice. You play as Mason or Chell or whatever. There are games which lets you pick who you want to be, but you can't be female.

4. Slippery slope logical fallacy.
