I really didn't want to be this disappointed

OK, I see your point. I disagree, however. Whining without proper criticism is often just a lack of understanding, people feel something is wrong but lack the communication skills or gaming knowledge to elucidate what is wrong. Often people whine for therapeutic reasons.

Strawmanning, however, is a malicious act, made with the intention of confusing the issue... which generates a lot more whining, causing huge fights where the conversation gets increasingly off-topic.

But there's no point in getting into a long discussion on that, as that would be off topic. The main point is we need people to stop complaining about criticism, trying to silence it with fallacies about EA or the like. Because that means we can't discuss if the criticism is valid, as everyone is too busy fighting over whether criticism is allowed, or strawmanning clearly worded criticism so as to turn it into a brawl for idiots.

Love all the strawmen in the thread. "if you're unhappy an EA game isn't finished, u dum lol!"

I don't think ANYONE is unhappy there are some bugs in the game and it needs work, right? It seems most people are complaining about core features. Many of which the Beta testers BEGGED the Devs to fix, for MONTHS. Why isn't there a dueling mode like in Warband? It would've been effortless to add in, and have made testing 10,000 times easier, and it is in high demand. There are many reasonable arguments the combat has gotten worse, with weird delays to your attacks.

But if the truth is against you, strawman the people you're arguing with.

You can play solitaire for infinite time, for free... so this is a really terrible deal, if your goal was to just waste time. I wouldn't buy CoD for $60. Buying this game now is a good investment, as the price is likely to go up at the full release. I did NOT expect all the numerous problems in the Single Player and Multiplayer that exist, needless as they are to any length of game development.
Mostly, I can be fine and patient with developers... but I really dislike people who try to silence feedback by saying, "It's early access, no complaining allowed."

If they were quiet about it and tried to pull a fast one I'd be with you all the way. They were quite clear about the game in it's current state having problems with balance, savegames, quests etc and told people not to buy it if they expect a finished or polished product. If you're gonna ignore all that and just buy it, then complain that the things they told you will happen happened then why look for sympathy?

I'm disappointed to only because this game can be so much more in EVERY way however i'm optimistic after hearing it's not just me feeling this way and with the amount of you who feel the same these things can only be improved

My god do you guys read anything from TaleWorlds? This is early access. It IS an modernized Warband, with more features, and most of the major innovative changes are still in the works which they already told us.
And boom! That’s it. Entitlement and not reading can make anyone look foolish.

You’re a paying customer of an early release developmental project.

And don’t get me wrong, I appreciate people giving feedback on specific things they feel should be fleshed out or seem to be missing but the “8 years for this???” self-entitled **** has to stop. They made it clear the game was unfinished and literally asked people that were concerned with an unfinished product not to buy it.

TBH, the game still plays like Warband. Which is I think is what the OP was getting at with their post. Yes, everything is a little bit smoother. The mechanics of trading, management, recruitment and such ARE better. Combat (aka the main gameplay feature) is almost identical to a game that came out 15 years ago.

We all understand what early access and Alpha mean in the context of the game, but TW isn't going to, for instance, vastly overhaul the combat or how the game plays, which is exactly what the OP was complaining about.

And man, you guys need to chill and let people complain; it can only lead to the devs trying to make things better.

I played the game more now, and all the combat mechanics, the battle mechanics are INSANELY advanced and extremely well implemented. I cannot believe I played 40€ for this. This should be 400€ as a one-off payment. If I only see how the battle commander gives me instructions like "protect left flank" ,"skrimish" then "get back behind allied lines". When I saw this my heart melted. This is just one example. The battles feel like actual war. THIS. IS. MADNESS. I know now what took 8 years to make. Hats off to you TaleWorlds. Hats off.
