I Need Dedicated Server Help

Alright so I have a dedicated server installed on my computer - the computer is not "dedicated" to the job though, as it is my normal computer. It has a quad core processer and 3.5gb RAM so I think it can handle it.

Anyway I read the tutorial, did everything as described:

* I made an exception in Windows Firewall for the port 7240.
* I set port forwarding on my router to 7240 (start and end), UDP.
* My router LAN address is listed as 10.0.0.1, so I set the address to 10.0.0.8. From what I read, this is proper.
* I set up the dedicated server files and added my mod - everything works fine.
* The server shows up as a LAN server for me, as it should.
* I can join it as admin and normally just fine. I am connecting from the same computer.
* The command "get_add_server_to_list" returns a 1, and I presume that means it should be listed.

And here is the kicker...

* Nobody seems to be able to see my server online.

If anyone can point out what I am doing wrong, please let me know. I've been forum diving and experimenting and I can't figure it out.

You have a wrong port forwading, I can't tell you the exact method, because every manufacturer uses a diferent GUI, but this page does:
http://www.pcwintech.com/port-forwarding-guides

Choose your router and model and follow the guide... if you have questions post it here and I'll solve it better I can...  :)

I did all that.

If I try to enter the computer's IP address it says "Server IP address must be a LAN ip address". So I gave it the router's IP number, and changed the last number to 8, instead of 1.

Am I doing it right?

Also, I cannot specify an IP address on my computer since I have a router and the numbers are stored in it. I have to set it to automatically find the numbers or it will not connect to the net. It will let me specify the DNS IP's, and still connect, but not the IP/Default/Subnet Mask area.

You have to specify your computer LAN IP and the game port used... example:
______________________________
192.168.0.100 : 7240
[ ] TCP    [X]UDP
______________________________

I recommend you to use a static IP instead of DHCP (that means the router gives your computer a random IP automatically)

Following this steps I had no trouble, and I can see my server on the standard list...

EDIT: Don't confuse you computer's IP (private / LAN) with your router's one (Public / Internet)
What you're doing with the forwading it's a NAT conversion, redirecting the network packets that come to your router's 7240 port to your internal network...

Alright so...

* I have Windows XP.
* I have the port 7240 set as an exception on my window's firewall. Warband itself is also added.
* My router's IP is 10.0.0.1. It has my regular IP setting stored in it of course.
* The port forwarding is set to UDP, Begin and End Port 7240, and an IP of 10.0.0.8. I named it "Warband" for reference.
* I changed my computer's IP to 10.0.0.8, and entered my default gateway, subnet mask, and DNS servers as usual.
* Now I can't even get to the internet.

Is there something I'm missing? I changed my computer IP back so I could get online again. This is very frustrating - I am doing everything the guide says. It says if I can't get online when I am done there is probably something wrong with my DNS servers. But they are fine - I am using the same DNS numbers I always use.

As far as what I am reading, this is how you set up a static IP. It makes no sense. This should be working...

I have exactly the same problem. Since the V1.130 (or maybe earlier) versions, your dedicated servers don't show up anymore for everyone.

Before that, it did, if you configured according to the guide of Vincenzo, but after V1.130 that with the same configuration, it only shows in LAN somehow.

But somehow it isn't working any more for the newer versions. Dunno why.

Hmm... it should be working. Try with 192.168.0.X, they are used as local standard IPs. For example:

Router LAN IP: 192.168.0.40
Your Computer's LAN IP: 192.168.0.100 | Static

Specify it in the Windows Control Panel > Internet Conections...
You should have it running correctly... Read my previous edit for some aclarations. I've tested it by myself today.

Yes, but I use a Netgear router, and its IP starts with 10.0. not 192.168.

Does this matter?

If I try 192.168.0.8. for instance, the router says the address is wrong and it has to be a LAN address.

Once again I would like to specify that I am running through a router, and that the computer I am trying to do this on is the main one on the netwrok, my normal working computer, and NOT dedicated strictly as a server. It is also the conroller for the router.

Does this make a difference? :|

Are you sure your local ip is 10.0.0.8 ?

run "ipconfig" in the command prompt and see what it tells you your local IP is. It could be anything between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.255

Wow looks like I actually got it to work.

It was wierd - I reset my router's ip to 198.162.1.1 yesterday and it caused even my Ethernet card to stop working until I reset my router. Then, when I went to change my local IP to 198.162.1.8, I couldn't even reach the internet...

I had given up on it, but just now when I checked my local IP it was set correctuly, and now I can find my mod in the server list.

Thanks for the help guys - don;t know how I pulled this off, but my savant must have overpowered my idiot this time.

 Glad you fixed it, my instructions were fine, but looks like your router only applies the changes on restart...  :? strange...

Enjoy the server, N0ught!
