i'm actually adressing the village-bandits-ambush-you-every-night minigame. its annoying.
in .951 i just didn't recruit in villages and didn't go to taverns in towns. but in .952 bandits attack even when i go to the market. what the heck? i have to fight bandits several times a night? they are not too hard to overcome, but it breaks the pace of the game terribly. when i go to replenish my foodstocks in between sieges, or when i'm selling loot, when i recruit conscripts or talk to villagefolk i must tediously kill three or four losers every bloody time. this is no fun, really. this gets old pretty fast. please, i need to be able to turn this feature off.

another annoying minigame is cow-herding. but at least its easy to avoid.

Make the attacks less, and less or more depending on wealth of area (Richer places can afford more gaurds, while slummier places attract riff raff)

I have noticed some people with complaints about the frequency of bandit attacks, but thus far, I've only encountered just a few ambushes... so I guess it's a random value and you just get "lucky"?

Happens alot to me too, think it should be toned down to an occaissional event that may also happen in the forest or wilderness, especially when you've wandered about for a few days and haven't met anyone, the chance should go up slightly.

It happens to me once every six or seven cities I visit, and it's only happened once in a village, and I've been to dozens of villages at night.

Strange, it usually happens to me when I visit a settlement at night and only at night. It's easy and quickly becomes a chore, and doesn't make much sense when I'm meant to have dozens of skilled warriors travelling beside me.

Same, having to fight off bandits every time I go to the market at night (how would they even get into the city to attack you, where are the city guards!?).

To make this less of a chore I believe the ambushes should be less frequent and harder, plus you should have a couple of bodyguards with you (the first three in the party screen?) and in the case of villages they should be even harder but you get to have you horse (if you have one of course) and the bodyguards (with horses as well).

Edit: a moral bump would be cool too.

Getting every night an ugly prisoner and one-two rusty swords would not give a lot of fun.
I think it would be better if every fight improves relation with the city.
In addition, relation should influence on chance of next bandits attacks and maybe several other things like trade rates, probably to be captured when disguised, taxes.

What do you all mean, i haven't encounterd any bandits in a peaceful village  Or have i just visited too few villages?

you can still rest at cities or just camp outside the village.  as long as its totally light outside, the bandits dont attack.

It IS very annoying and way too frequent, though.

Yeah, only the really poor villages and cities have bandits.  That would add quite a bit to the feeling of poverty and despair to your lousy fief.

The bandits should not be bandits, but looters.  The guildmaster quest already describes them as townsfolk cashing in on the troubles of the wars and bandits.  It bothers me that so many well armed bandits can be strolling around at night and no guards or anyone notices.

I liked it the first time, and well I can understand that sometimes they think "hey some guy on his own, lets shoot arrows in him." but I can NOT understand they'd do that just after I've won the tournament in that city and while wearing quite heavy armor!

Also, the interaction with sneaking in is disappointing. I fight the guards, slip off into the streets...and then fight 3 bandits in my full armor (NOT the pilgrim disguise). Furthermore, once this ruins my immersion, it doesn't send me back to the main menu but KICKS ME OUT of the town; so that I have to sneak in again.
