One aspect of Warband that I find boring is how samey the equipment loadout of every lord is. Almost all of them are mounted and none of them use ranged weapons or polearms. That leaves room for only 1-handers with shields and 2-handers.
Personally, I've always found it jarring to use bows, crossbows and javelins as a lord because of the fact that no other lord in the game makes use of them. It makes me feel like a ****ty poser using peasant weapons instead a 'genuine' lord with real lordly weapons.
I get that the intent behind this design decision was probably for authenticity, because again, real life lords wouldn't use bows, crossbows and javelins in battle.
But for Bannerlord, I'd like it for Taleworlds to bend the rules a bit and really allow a more diverse array of weapons for lords to use. I think this would achieve two things:
- More diversity in lords' equipment loadouts, giving each of them a little more perceived personality.
- Using ranged weapons and polearms would feel more appropriate for the player, since other lords would also be using them.
