I hope to see more variety in lords' equipment in Bannerlord

One aspect of Warband that I find boring is how samey the equipment loadout of every lord is. Almost all of them are mounted and none of them use ranged weapons or polearms. That leaves room for only 1-handers with shields and 2-handers.
Personally, I've always found it jarring to use bows, crossbows and javelins as a lord because of the fact that no other lord in the game makes use of them. It makes me feel like a ****ty poser using peasant weapons instead a 'genuine' lord with real lordly weapons.
I get that the intent behind this design decision was probably for authenticity, because again, real life lords wouldn't use bows, crossbows and javelins in battle.

But for Bannerlord, I'd like it for Taleworlds to bend the rules a bit and really allow a more diverse array of weapons for lords to use. I think this would achieve two things:
- More diversity in lords' equipment loadouts, giving each of them a little more perceived personality.
- Using ranged weapons and polearms would feel more appropriate for the player, since other lords would also be using them.

I would like the developers add lordly versions of the current armors with gold details and embedded gems. Even some important houses and kings could have unique armor pieces like a helmet with a crown or something like this ....

There were some lord in Warband with bows, but only a few and overall you are right about the lack of variety. Especially unmount lords of factions without horses, although with better AI they might not charge alone anymore.

Special "legendary" lord weapons could be really fun. Like some of the named very beautiful swords we know of in real life. I would love something like that, like a collection sort of thing.

I like this idea. Might be modded into the game as well. There will be weapon crafting in release and why shouldn't lords have their special made heirloom weapons right?

That's a really cool idea! After all, many swords of nobles had names, like Leggbítr from the Icelandic Sagas!

I am only going off the little bits of preview footage but some of the Regents seemed a little bland, need a bit more oomph in the final game.

It's a good point, especially about polearms. They should be used far more widely. I expect that at least with the eventual implementation of weapon crafting, at least some lords will get personalised weapons, maybe even named ones. Some cultural variety could also apply. For instance among the Khuzait bows should be common among the lords, whereas only few Vlandian nobles would use crossbows.

there wont be weapon crafting in the initial release for early access it was announced among other things

Lords are lords for a reason. I would not expect them to use weaponry associated with the common soldier.

I would agree with you and like to see lords specializing in a variety of different equipment/combat styles, skills, and feel different with unique household troops, items/equipment, mounts, ect but I wouldn't count too much on it in the base game. Mods will have it for sure.

Some one made a mod for Skyrim called, "unique uniques" and it made all the named weapons different looking and worth while. I think a mod like that would be awesome in Bannerlord. Just like how some of the biggest houses in Game of Thrones had family heirloom weapons like Ice, Longclaw and Dawn.

I kind of imagine a system even where its family weapons, like we saw in GoT, and a clan/family might have an inherrant dislike for you if you hold their sword and would give you a big relation boost if you brought it back, maybe even sending assassins/mercenaries after you if you hold on to it, would be nice if @TaleWorlds or a mod added something like this.

Not a bad idea. To make it more unique only one faction has these family weapons, where only members from the 5 noble families in that faction can become lords. So you can't make random peasants or defected lords a lord in that faction. However these noble families have powerful family weapons, and household units specializing in unique mounts. Some maybe specialize in elephant archers, others chariots, ect. Lords/nobles in this faction are super loyal and never defect and on average 2-3 times stronger than the average lord army.

Then a different faction should have unique faction relic weapons. Where the tradition limits the number of lords that faction has by the number of relics that exists/can be created. So you are basically knighted to lord in that faction by receiving a super strong faction relic that boosts certain stats/weapon proficiency significantly. In this faction anyone chosen by the king from peasants and companions, to defected lords may receive the relic weapon.

In a third faction, you can recruit unlimited lords as long as you have the money or fiefs to keep them happy. Only one of them is chosen by the king to be the highest ranking lord and given unique faction set from helmet, to shield/sword as as well as other perks maybe armies/income 3 times larger than the other lords.

+1

I've always wanted this feature. They should be difficult to obtain (special quests with special renown/relationship/clan requirements?), but better than shop purchased equipment.
