What's not to get? When you free prisoners they usually ofter to join you. This happened with some peasents one time after I defeated Pirates that were holding them captive. Any non-Hero unit can become a prisoner I believe. It should then be possible to aquire almost any unit in the game.

The problem is finding a Dark Knight who's actually managed to become a prisoner. Someone posted a really useful strategy for getting them, but I think it may be buried a bit, and I forgot exactly how it went.

I have to wonder, is it possible to have a nobleman or a caravan leader as one of your units through this method?

caravan leaders yes, not sure what use they are though, i got ride of him as soon as i got him. wanted the extra slots for more troops. I doubt the noble men though, unless they run around when your not on a quest for them.

I bet you could capture the noble man, lose a battle. the enemy takes him prisoner then you take him back...

I have 4 completly by accident. They were attacking some refugees so i helped. After the battle the refugges offered to join me and i said no. When i went back to the world view they had 4 dark knights prisienor!! I talked to them again and they all offered to join me!!!!!
