The worst startup in tournaments has to be the lance, it is so useless...

this is so damn true! that thing is not even a weapon; I`d personally use it as a huge club(if it was possible); most of the time I use it as a pike on foot.
and btw, someone mentioned how the worst combo ever is javelin on foot. That is not true - I get to make face shots against foot opponents(and a face shot from a javelin is something nobody wants to get) and take down easily riders(or their horses)
as for the Native Expansion company fights, it`s in the arena options along with the melee fights.

I hated them... until I realized that they were where I got good at combat.  I did them for renown and profit, and all of those intended rewards pale to the skills I mastered (me not my toon).

In the throws of battle, if it's a challenging battle, it all about survival - not so much about technique.  In the tourneys I mastered techniques that have made battle not only more fun, but have made me alone worthy of 60-80 elite soldiers (w/o cheats or uber gear).

Nothing's wrong with uber gear... I just don't have any.  My companions and I only use what we loot.

Techniques are applicable in battle, but it's not the best place to learn them in my opinion.  I learned them in the arena...  I really don't know what you're on about in regards to getting rid of horses.

wouldnt that be against the point of the game. Its called "Mount" & Blade not "Boot" & Blade.^^

I don't use any mods and I should learn how to install them lol  but if I install a new mod I'll probably have to start a new game..

All new mods and versions of new mods (for the most part) require a new character/game. Saved games usually will not work (they're definitely not interchangeable between mods).
