I hate Bannerlord

Knight at Arms
It is not fun.

Infantry is too slow and the devs want to make them slower.
Kicks are too easy.
Javelins do not require a brain to use.
Nobody asked for skirmish or the class system yet we are forced to endure both regardless.
The Twohander classes are jank and the devs want to make them janker.
Archery is very easy because the devs have an aversion to giving classes decent shields.
Cavalry is very easy because the devs have an aversion to giving classes decent spears.
Cavalry is very easy because none of the movement mechanics which governed cav in Warband made it to Bannerlord.
Snowballing is worse than in warband by several magnitudes.
The devs have been smiling and nodding since alpha when players give suggestions but the issues we feel most strongly about have been left unattended. Whatever discussion is happening is being shut down by some big guy in charge who thinks his vision is more important than the thousands who want to just have fun again.

Despite all of this Ive put tons of hours into this game while locked in my room and barely able to breathe because some kid coughed on me at some point in the last 2 weeks. I just dont feel like forcing myself to play something I dont enjoy for much longer when I could be doing co-op lego star wars or something.

You think that's the reason you don't enjoy the game? Not the fact that all you can do is playing skirmish on 3 maps without team balancing?

Yeah, this game sucks. If this next patch isn't outstanding then I'm just gonna uninstall. Also, I'll keep telling everybody I know that this game sucks. Already saved like 5 people from purchasing, and hopefully I can pump up those numbers.

Nobody asked for Mount & Blade or Warband and yet we got it. This is their game. They design it as they see fit, just as they did with M&B and Warband. You're not entitled to whatever game it is that you think you deserve. Go make your own game if you're not happy with this one. Nobody forced you to buy a game that they spent a significant portion of their lives making.

Yeah, i think they should remove directional blocking, i mean its their game. I would support them 100% if they did this

Nobody asked for non-directional blocking yet that's what Chivalry and Mordhau went with and they were both very successful. There were things people didn't like in M&B and some of those people went and made Chivalry. There were things people didnt like in Chivalry and a few of those people went and made Mordhau. That's how it works. Chivalry didn't come into existence by emotionally blackmailing the M&B developers into creating the game they believed they deserved.

My fundamental point is let's at least wait to see the patch before we get outraged. And if we are outraged, let's clearly explain our issues, the reasons for them, and alternatives. Talking down to the developers is not a productive method of discourse and the easiest way to get your opinion ignored.

With the main difference between Warband and Bannerlord being that 1 year after release nobody will be playing Bannerlord. If Taleworlds would rather have an empty game that they had the final say in instead of a popular multiplayer that had input from the community that is their problem and not ours. Some of the changes in the beta build need to be reverted ASAP or thats the nail in the coffin. I have no idea how some of the changes even get devised unless whoever the primary force behind them is has just been completely cut off from all sources of input.

I quit, which pained me a ton. I played the game for half my life almost, that’s crazy, and I couldn’t play bannerlord for 3 months. Please fix your game I miss playing with RCC (

It's very hard to have a meaningful and productive conversation without specifics and context. Every single change needs it's own platform for discussion within the larger context of all of the changes together.

For example, there's been complaints that movement speed is too high (before this new patch). People spinning and doing 180's. With this new patch, there's been the proclamation that it's only infantry speed that has been reduced. Do we know this? Was movement speed too high overall? What is the reasoning behind a reduction in heavy infantry speed specifically?

Aside from that you mention kicks are too easy and javelins are OP. Well, both of those things are supposed to change in the upcoming patch. Yet almost none of us know the specifics.

It seems that almost all of the issues that Warband vets complain about are being addressed: Attack speed, feints, block speed, movement speed, kicks, cavalry, spears ... Yet none of us have even tried the new patch for an hour let alone the weeks that it would take to test it accurately.

Game development is a slow process. We're part of early access. We didn't buy a finished game and all of us know this. Let's at the very least give the new patch a week of testing before getting outraged. I think that's only fair.

You do know both Chivalry and Mordhau both got the idea of directional blocking from MaB right?

Also you do understand that the outcry you hear is valid criticism? You mistake criticism with blackmailing, which are two distinct different things.

Chivalry and Mordhau do not have directional blocking.

I understand that people are frustrated with the game and have legitimate complaints. My concern is that they are not communicating this criticism in a constructive or meaningful fashion.

Have you played the games? They have directional blocking.

I have something like 500 hours in Mordhau. It absolutely does NOT have directional blocking. That's what makes the combat fundamentally different. It's all based on the parry which is the default blocking mechanic. It has something like a 300ms window that blocks EVERY direction of attack. Because it's timing based rather than direction, the mixups lie in whether the attack lands sooner (accel) or later (drag). That's the entire mixup more or less. Chambers are directional but they cost stamina and are rather situational. The primary mechanic that differentiates Chivalry and Mordhau from M&B is the fact that they do NOT have directional blocking.

la la la blocking something something

Mordhau does have directional blocking but its different than Warband. You have to aim your parry directly at the weapon head or it wont work. Not the same as having fixed angles you can hold down though, I agree.

As for the OP... I agree that I do not like Bannerlord in its current state, but I have a feeling it will improve. The combat is clunky feeling to me, and some of the mechanics are broken imo. One major thing that bothers me is how tournaments now work in single player. Since the participants now keep their armor, I sometimes have issues with the crappy spears you get as they glance against armor way too much. When weilding a tournament spear with a shield it is impossible to land any hits.

Try timing your spear attack so that your attack lands when they wind up and drop their guard. The tournaments are pretty good but come into the duel custom server for a week or so and try to get good at fighting, it’s different than tdm. There’s also a post from a week ago that shows all of the skill levels of classes that’s pretty enlightening and will feed your nerdrage check it out.

There has always been a disconnect between duelists and comp players. Duelers tend to not be that great at team play, often relying on their solo skill, and vice versa. What is good 1v1 isn't always great in 2v1, or 2v2, ot 8v8, and vice versa.
