I don't know you, peace to you stranger

The voice acting in Prophesy of Pendor (assuming that's what PoP stands for) was not very good. I would go so far as to say the mod was better off without it. Unless there was an overhaul of the VA work after my last play-through of the mod you're not making yourself more credible by bringing that up.
Every time that shanty comes on in Fierdsvain I'm reminded of "Grr, why do you still believe in Jesus?"

Yeah that was some time ago -not even sure which version that would have been around 10-12 years ago. Funny story my GF at the time was a trained theatre actress who i coerced into doing the voice for the Snake Queen but it was so over the top Shakespearean, Fawzia (who was the director of the mod at that time) - wasnt having it and re-recorded it with her own voice. My Gf was outraged at being dropped from a small video game mod her ego just couldnt handle the indignation.

Ill tell you what it was a great team and i still have some friendships in RL with some of the group to this day. The forums were also a much more pleasant place back then.

A long time ago or not, thanks for contributing to it in whatever way that you did. You helped to make it great! Also, that is pretty funny about the GF. lol although over the top Shakespearean sounds kinda cool. Was it kinda like Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions "over the top", or something entirely different?

Thanks man i appreciate that but really i was just a bit player having fun and learning a little about this games code. Really MadVader deserves alot more props as he had a much larger role in the project and imo its one of the greatest overhaul mods ever done. Ha - i never played FF so not sure but if you've ever seen the tv show Cheers she was alot like Diane the Ivy league schooled Waitress.

I remember Cheers very vaguely, but I'll google that. And nah, don't say that, you contributed, that means you helped! Even if you think it was only a little bit.

Also, I had no idea MadVader worked on PoP. That's awesome so many people who worked on it are still on the forums!

We did the voice acting for PoP mod - the Devs can if they want and certainly have the resources for it. But if the fanbase lets them off the hook with so many things being "too expensive for this tiny team" -then thats exactly what they'll do. Path of least resistance reigns supreme in many niche turned mainstream Game companies
Probably out of context here, but any plans for a PoP mod for Bannerlord? It's literally the best mod ever made, it's a standalone game for me.

I cant speak for SaxonDragon -he has alluded to it but seeing as he commented here a couple days ago is a good sign he's at least on the scene. Also the guy who wrote the Battle AI, TreeBeard - Ive tried to get him to get Bannerlord but he just wasnt very interested. Of course this was early on when I was still a fan of BannerLords promise

Edit: heres his post btw https://forums.taleworlds.com/index...rlord-video-review-by-ign.455073/post-9839452

I also worked on The Last Days, I'm a goddamn modding legend. Or someone who got in the right time on the right team twice.

I feel that there was too much time between Warband and Bannerlord, so the old modder gen basically retired and it's time for new modders and new mods that would be at least just as awesome as the old ones. It really takes a perfect storm of free time, good game and enthusiastic modding community for people to spend a lot of time developing mods.

Is this why the evil Men in TLD have the same in-battle voice lines as the people of Pendor?

It's been a long time, but probably not. The tactical AI is an evolution from PoP's, with Treebeard's support.

Going back to the original topic:

Yesterday I visited a castle fief of mine, to which I'd assigned my wife as governor. Usually I don't bother talking to the wife, because it doesn't do anything. But this time I did, just for the heck of it, and in the vague, vain hope that maybe the devs might have added some interaction that would lead to a task for me to do that would actually give me a good reason to have a spouse in the first place. I wasn't surprised when there wasn't an option for something meaningful to say or do, but I was surprised by how the conversation opened:

"Yours is not a face I know. Who might you be?" she asked.
I didn't have the option to respond with, "WTF?! I'm your frickin husband! Don't you remember the wedding ceremony? [There was a nice cutscene, and she was definitely looking at me at one point.] You were in my warparty the other week, too. We've definitely met before."
Instead, I just just had to mumble something ridiculous like, "My name is Garios. And may I ask your name?"
"I am Vassilla of the Clan Zenos. We are famous throughout the Empire for our deeds in crushing the barbarians".
Yeah, I know. That's my clan. I set it up. I did the barbarian-crushing myself. FFS.
"I have heard your name," she continues. "It's good to finally make your acquaintance. You and I should talk from time to time."
"Yeah, whatever," I didn't reply. "Fancy a game of Tibult, since there's naff-all else to do?"

She was rubbish and I beat her easily. Don't think I'll bother talking to her again.

Shame that this is still a thing...

😄 exactly my experience.

Yep, only way to get relation (that resets to 0) with the partner is beating them in a board game or stalking their party to 'assist' in a fight. I don't want some dating-sim bs, but it's way too bland, why bother even wasting time adding the marriage stuff? Might as well just turn it into another one of their button-clicky 'features' as most of the rest of the game or word-based prompts.

Dialogues goin backwards, it is sad...
I keep wondering why. Is it so difficult? Heck, even those kinda non-sense things in warband like asking an enemy where his king is, would make me happy at this point...

I mean, that was Warband, let's be honest.

The sound design was.. Interesting, to say the least. Especially for a 2012 game.

It was charming, that's for sure. But also quite bad.

Sounds fine imo, though I don't care for these things much and if TW had decided to just mash in all of the old sound design I wouldn't care.

Bumping this thread because "peace to you stranger" is starting to get very overdone in my current campaign.

If we had like six normal "Greetings". lines thrown in, one per culture, that would be much better

TBH, was short-sighted of them to add VA for lords/AI, given how 'unique' the individuals were supposed to be (not really) and how many of them one could potentially encounter over generations. TW opened up that can of worms by adding VA for them.
Now, adding VA for bandits/merchants/etc..., that's fine as they are 'faceless'.
