Resolved Huge XP Gain on Beta Update

My new game is leveling up fast but not that buggy fast. My old save character gained many points soon after restart but went to slower level up. But the old save's NPCs gain insane amount of SP after every battle

Performing this fix is easy. The mod creates import and export buttons in the encyclopaedia. Load your pre-patch save (before running around or doing anything) and press the export button. Then shift+click the import button, and voila! Do this for your whole party, which you can right-click on the party screen.
PS: Be double sure that you Shift+Click the import button, otherwise it will not solve the problem.

Having issues too. My companion went from 0 medicine to 1023 medicine...
Then I tried another and his One Handed jumped from 100 to 280 in one fight..

I understood the issue as it pertains to previous saves, but this is happening on a brand new game.
I deleted all my saves and started over after downloading the beta. This makes no sense lol.

Anyone figure anything new out on this yet (sorry for double post, intentional to bump since this forum is packed with issues right now lol)

Then I tried another and his One Handed jumped from 100 to 280 in one fight..

I understood the issue as it pertains to previous saves, but this is happening on a brand new game.
I deleted all my saves and started over after downloading the beta. This makes no sense lol.

Are you using any mods and/or did you import your character? I can't say I have ever noticed any of my characters having 0 in any attribute at the beginning of the game.

I have several mods but nothing should affect companions that I am aware. Guess I will start another fresh save, no mods..and see what happens.
 
It would be great if they solved this error in order to continue with the saved games, I know it's an EA but who doesn't like the possibility of keeping their game?
 
A hotfix just came out, which says it fixes this.

How to download? Although this say it only fixes save files, my case is a new save..ugh.

Actually it appears to have fixed it for my games all that extra XP is now gone for all companions (and that is still using all my existing mods)
Well...her Medicine still went from 0 to 1023..... so still broken. She shows 2 medicine, 0/51xp in medicine but as soon as I gain 1 pnt it goes from 2 to 1023 same as before.

So the number of XP that was listed before incorrectly (like 25000/500) is fixed, but it still jumps her way up?

It seems like there is no way to do it now, at least via steam.
I think that if they fixed something for loaded games, they fixed it for new ones either.

Hotfix are generally automatically applied via the game..and it looks like it was because no longer when I take a companion does it have like HIGH XP/low XP

But it still levels them up as if it did... sigh.

Nevermind I lied..the new companions still have the high numbers of XP so I guess the fix is not applied yet...it appears like it just downloaded when I closed my game.

Started a new campaign and it seems to be fixed..guess just can't play on current saves.

You can play with your old saves, just don't use the beta. As far as I know 1.0.11 should work with 1.0.10 and older saves (unless you tried to load them with 1.1, then yes you might be out of luck).

My guess is that once 1.1 is moved to the stable branch they will do anything humanly possible to ensure save compatibility. While it's still in beta though there's always a degree of risk involved.
 
Can confirm for myself and my friend having the same problem. Clearly gamebreaking, so for now we'll be waiting until the next beta patch and playing on a temporary new game to continue testing.

Edit: Can confirm that companion skills are still balanced in a new game. It looks like the beta conflicts with existing saves.

OP identified a bug and reported it and he should have. And I confirmed that it happened to some other people as well. And luckily because it was seen by the developers and they've tried to fix it in the latest patch. The beta build corrupted save files. Anyway, there are no 'stupid' bug reports, only abusers who don't know the forum rules.

So I tried loading my pre-beta save and there is still some excess EXP. Though it is much less. I'm seeing give or take 5~20 level increases, rather than increases of around 80~200. Anyone else have observations?

Of course, I am not using the beta, in fact my advice is that nobody who wants to keep their games use the beta until it ends its beta phase. I'm simply reporting a beta bug with the intention that it won't persist when the game is definitely updated.
