Huge Wait Before Startup

Whenever I start up Warband the intro vids immediately come up after the configure screen. but after I skip them (or let them play through) the computer freezes.  Everything is stuck except for mouse pointer.  I can't even hit Alt+Ctrl+Del and have anything come up.  It freezes for an entire minute.  Same when I close Warband.  I've got a Dell XPS 630 or something like that.  It is a gaming computer.  Granted, it freezes as well when I open Zune and Rome: Total War, but only for 10 seconds max.  Does anyone else have this issue?  (With any program, really?)  Do I need to update drivers?  Does anyone even know why this would happen?

Is your hard drive light constantly blinking or on while this happens? If it is you can try defragging it. Do you have less than 2 gig of ram?

You should probably start by telling us your computer's specifications. Not much we can do without them.

8GB of RAM, 3.2 Quad Core Processor, 1024 MB ATI Graphics Card.  Not at my home computer right now.  Will post later about rest of system specs.
