Hrmmph - Steam!

Ok - call me picky but -

Just how annoying is it that you wait for Steam to update only to find it has replaced your well established quick save key (f12) with a new - take screenshot function. That key - I could hit on it's own with my eyes closed at a long reach - but now I have programmed * as my save key I keep pressing f12 to save only to get a massive gallery of the dullest in game pictures imaginable-

I now start Steam to be greated by all my unneeded pictures taken by mistake like some abstract memorial to my poor memory.

I'll get used to it eventually but damn - couldn't they have given us the option???

What ever happened to the good ole days where if you wanted to take a screenshot you just hit print screen?

To this day this mucks me up because every game has different functions for different keys (thankfully wasd is the same in most)

Steam -> Settings -> In-Game tab -> Set screenshot button to something else than F12.

Now I think abt it - I think they did say you could reassign the key when it was set up but I thought they meant in Warbands key designation section.

I kinda like this.  I see all sorts of screenshots of what I was doing as I trekked across Caladria.

I wasn't aware that you could change the screenshot button . If I try to pose for a screenshot, I almost need a 3rd hand to reach all the keys and keep my left mouse button down.

Thought I'd better reiterate -

We are talking abt the in Steam function to take screenshots not the ingame one.

Thanks to the above I have been instructed how to change the Steam key associated so there were no conflicts.

But neither Steam nor native screenshot captures require holding the left mouse button.

No, but some nice poses can be attained by using the mouse. However, if you're posing for pictures then it is a good idea to start the game with cheat mode. Ctrl + f9 and Ctrl + f11 are good tools for taking pictures. (f9 slows time and f11 stops it)

That is, if I recall everything correctly. Makes posing easier if you're doing it slow-motion because it's much easier to time.

Ya but whenever I take screenshots I'm usually posing with a spear or sword held back, ready to thrust. That's where the left mouse button comes in while also holding down ~ and whatever keys are used for a screenshot in game. So I'm reaching for almost both ends of my keyboard while simultaneously trying to hold down the left mouse button.

The screenie that is my avatar took a friend's help. Usually I use my nose though, no joke. Wish it had better lighting though...
