How would I add a new companion?

Hello, I am new to the forums, and my first topic will be concerning the question the title asks.
I did search if there was already a thread about this, and I didn't find anything. Also, I couldn't find any mod-development boards, so I just decided to post here.

Is there any mod out there that would allow me to create companions, and if not, is there a tutorial anywhere that would tell me how to manually create a companion?
