I'm interested in making the other towns in M&B fully explorable like zendar. I used to make small levels for Half-Life (nothing ever got released though) and was just wondering if it's possible to build towns like zendar with the M&B editor. I haven't go the editor yet cause i've no internet access at home nor a floppy drive to add it to disk, or even a flash drive.

uhhhhhhhhh
you dont have a floppy drive... thats impossible... seriously, if you have a computer that runs half-life its IMPOSSIBLE that you dont have a f0909 floppy drive
and second it wouldnt fit on it

and third, all you need is a USB drive to use the flash-card that you would have to buy...
and fourth, why dont you have internet??

Actually, that means there is a good chance s/he doesn't have a floppy drive, since newer computers sometimes don't come with them. In the rare event that you need one, you get get a $10 usb floppy drive. And not everyone has internet, either because they can't afford it or *gasp* because it isn't available in their area.

About the first post: The editor we have can only change units and items. We should be able to edit maps with the mod tools in the next version.

When i bought my latest PC six months ago i had to specifically ask for them to add a floppy drive. "Are you sure you want a floppy " they said, "you won't have much use of it"!

Well, i've used the floppy several times. Although you can get by without one, i can't see a reason not to buy one. It costs next to nothing.

I can say it is useful when you have to take text files with you (somewhere you can't send it). You don't have to burn it on cd or dvd.

actually those arent floppys, they are 3.5 diskette drives. THIS is a real floppy

and C64 rocks by the way, I still play Boulder Dash and Archon on it when I'm bored

I used to play Oregon Trail on real floppies in 1st grade at my elementary school. I was the bane of settlers. Usually within the first 15 miles you'd see about 10 grave markers from me.

I got farther than that, but I'm not totaly sure it's possible to pass that game. The closest I got was about 100 miles from the destination, when I was bitten by a rattlesnake. The teacher didn't remember anyone ever passing it.

just bought a new-super-uber-mega blah blah laptop and discovered it had no floppy drive...

and on topic: in the mod there should be town-editing tools, right?

yes its true.....

there said it, now i wouldn't be surprised if it is in the next version but not in this one.

But for floppies, I rememer the days when games were bendable and took 10 minutes to load, those were the days,

and oregon trail....just had to make sure you had towns of ammo, make it through every time.....who knows why..

They are called 3.5 in floppy drives and 5.25 in floppy drives and the first 5 or so years that I had and used computers their was no such thing as a cd-rom. Now I actually have a computer that doesn't have a floppy drive (my laptop) but I still use my floppy drive on my main computer every so often.

PS. I beat Oregon Trail at least 20 to 30 times and never had a problem beating it and actually had too try to lose once just too see what it was like too lose.

PPS. I hope that modding for this game becomes good and that it goes on for along time since I might actually buy this game since I'm having some fun playing the demo.

So we are changing the subject to "let's talk floppies?" I haven't got one cause i bought a new case a few months back and it was black so i threw out my cream one and didnt bother getting a black replacement. Just the dvd-rom was changed. Besides, you can get a 64mb usb flash card for £10.

I paid $50 for one last year
but now I have a 256 mb one! It's great being able to carry your own applications with you at school.
