..play Warband without being logged onto Steam if I bought the game through Steam? When I start up the game the first thing that happens is that it tries to log me onto Steam and if I decide to not log on the game simply doesn't start. Surely there's a way to play the game without being on Steam?

When you select the game in Steam, there should be a button to show your CD key. Simply download the game from an external source and activate it with that key.

I suppose I could go dl it elsewhere to get around Steam, but is that really necessary? Then I'll have to reinstall everything...

How do I start in offline mode?

When it asks you to log in, it also shows a start in ofline mod buton. Thats, of course, if you didnt tick auto log in.

If you do have it auto log in or are already logged in you can open up steam and click the Steam button then select go offline.

I have the same problem. Where do you go to download the game from an external source, all I can find at the TW site is the trial version that won't let me key in the code?

The trial version is the full version of the game. It just sets a level cap. What do you mean by it won't let you key in the code?

You are posting in a Steam thread, so I will assume you had the Steam version.
In which case the registry already has the key present and you will not be prompted to enter it.

Yes, I have the Steam version. I didn't realize that when I downloaded the trial version, I would get the full version Steam free.
