How to win Constantinople?

Playing as a sworn vassal in the ERE, won several other castles in the Latin Empire and their final stronghold is the Constantinople. Their garrison is 900 so it deters the AI from attacking. At the same time the emperor doesnt peace out despite peacing out other nations (Ilkhans and Sicily)... Is this perma war a feature or what? The Latins' constant harassment on my border village is killing my lances and taxes.

Also is there any way to encourage the emperor to declare war on weaker nations? ERE is now currently at war with Latin Empire only but they cant siege Constantinople so I figured why not attack other nations as well...

To take Constantinople you can try to become marshal of your nation and siege it yourself. It is very often the best way to do things and I get frustrated a lot of times because of that. The marshal has the bad habit of resting after taking an easy castle even if the army still has 95% of the soldiers alive, letting the enemy recover their numbers before attacking another castle or, in your case, not attacking the enemy town at all...

If you can take the city in one siege great! No more worries. If not, just keep rebuilding your army as fast as posssible and sieging it again and again for as many sieges as you need to, eventually it will fall  The key step is to become marshal yourself though.

Damn, figured as much... The constant warfare against Latin Empire is a weakness and the emperor still doesnt want peace with them. Perhaps both sides 'doesnt trust each other'
Eventually Hungary and Ilkhans decided to declare war on us. Perhaps they see us having wars in multiple fronts so... yeah long live the Basileus

Yeah this is really annoying... Now the same is happening to the north african moors since the whole Iberian Peninsula belongs to the Portuguese... They only have 2 castles left which have about 300 soldiers each but the marshal refuses to attack them... Meanwhile the enemy is gathering an army and marching towards one recently captured city so we'll lose it again
I seriously hope the marshal choice triggers fast so I can end this bs...

But how do you get to become the new marshal? I dont get notified about new election of marshal and my competitors' renown is much higher than mine so that certainly doesnt help...

Well then there you go. You should start improving the relation with your king as well as your renown. Do quests for the other lords too to improve your standing with them, as for renown the fastest way is to build manors and improve them all.

The marshal election seems pretty random to me, I'll google it and post back the results.

EDIT:  the marshall is selected when a country is at peace and starts a war with someone. There is another trigger that fires when the current marshall has high enough controversy. You can gain controversy by being marshall and having castles captured by the enemy. After some losses the king may decide to take a break from the usual fief assignment and pick a marshall instead.

This was just a quick google search, some info may be incomplete or incorrect, but so far it sounds credible with what I've experienced.

Well the Basil doesnt seem to desire peace with the Latins... Guess I have to do something... Is there a way to force my empire to declare war on a neighbouring state when we are still in a war? Eg: the Crete Island currently hold by Venice...

Dunno if raiding villages and caravans makes your faction more prone to enter a war, but you could try it. Raid some villages and ask your king to wage war.

Doesnt that make you lose honor? Or make your liege hate you?

Most likely, yes to both questions... I've never done it personally while I'm a vassal of any kingdom, I usually do it when turning rebel or trying to start my own kingdom :/

With time you will always be in a war with someone, I've even seen a post once that stated something like "In Warband the question it's not who will wage war with you, it's when they'll do it".

In your case I'd suggest to take it easy, work on increasing your renown, honor and lord relationship. If they have only one town at the moment they are a threat but not big enough for you to be worried about.
Eventually Constantinople WILL fall, it's not a question of "if", it's a question of "when" it will happen  Get stronger, level your character, improve all your stats and relations and with time some of the enemy lords may even defect making it easier to fight off the remnants of the enemy.

Been trying to get myself some holy order knights too as I have read somewhere that they are strong. How much can I get? I tried in a separate safe file but I can only donate to invite them to come over. Yet there is no signs of where to recruit them. PS: I have yet to fortify my manor. I upgraded some buildings and a monastery.

You have to invite them into the monastery first and then return at a later time to call them to your party. I think they come in groups of ~10 and yes, they are really strong. The knights of Santiago for example dont seem menacing at first but they rack up kills quite fast xD

You have to invite them into the monastery first...

Do I get a notification for this? And which orders are the strongest?

Ahhhhmm, no xD
Dunno, I usually use the Knights Of Santiago because they are the only order that was more related to the portuguese during the year 1257, or at least closer.
I'd say the teutonic, hospitallers and templars are the best, specially with the templar heavy horses that are in the mod, although this is me guessing because I've never actually played with them...
