How to stop faction invitations.

I am trying to build up my fortune as a merchant but I keep getting these annoying faction invitations which is seriously hampering my trading capabilities with other factions. My renown is only a meagre 181 so can someone tell me why this is happening?

Why are faction invitations hampering your trading ? Can't you just say, "Thanks but no thanks!" and move on? I don't think I've even ever been invited to join, I usually have to ask the faction leader... What invitations are you talking about?

Once you get some renown they start asking you to join them.  If you say no then you get -3 relation.  Since it's only with the king and not the faction, you might try asking the king for a quest to keep your head above water.

If a king thinks you'd be a particularly good catch, they'll start sending invitations to become their vassal. Once you have negative relations with the king, they'll stop asking you. Just keep rejecting them.

Are you sure?  I'm pretty sure I was asked more than once by the same guy at some point.  Might have been an older version though.

They only ask again if your relation is positive or neutral.
