how to start?

If all else fails turn down the difficulty. Lower damage received for you/allies by half or whatever. As far as the current version of the mod goes I find tournaments to be obsolete. It is much quicker and easier to find a bard and pay him 500 coins to +5 renown. Depending on how high your renown is though, it goes from +5, +4, +3, +2, +1 per 500 spent. Still easier than becoming aggravated with the tournaments.

Though I have to admit I love how tournaments are set up in the Floris mod. I would like to see that incorporated into this one.

that cleared up a lot thank you
my bigest problem is that late in tournaments im having trouble winning when I get a spear/shield because they always run up and I cant do any damage
it is even more difficult when there are more then one opponents

The trick here is to use the dagger given to you in the fight, not the spear. Unless they fixed it (I'm upgrading to current version), it looks like your hand is empty but you are actually holding a dagger. You must get in close to the enemy, use your shield to block, and then *slash high* with your dagger when the enemy opens himself up.  You will almost always catch them in the face with your dagger if you time it right. If your opponent has an axe, you can often take then down swiftly after blocking their first attack -- get in close, slash, slash, slash, they can't back up and hit you with their axe if you keep pressing them.

For multiple foes keep walking *backwards* away from them, using your shield to block -- they will usually end up bumping into each other and attacking one at a time, two at a time tops. Again, block with shield and when the time is right slash high -- I often slash Left to Right since that gives them less of a chance to block. If you keep moving and make sure you don't back into a wall, you have a pretty good chance of winning such a fight. Good luck!!

Nobles are identified by asking tell me about your self.
If you choose the good stable party setup,
Frioc and Arthrys are the most unstable nobles so I give them fiefs first.
Next is Luiva.
finally, Matui is a noble, but not very demanding.
Everybody else but the picts get bows or 2 hand axes.
