How to reinstall Warband without losing char info

I'm simply having multiple crashes in the single player version.  Game simply freezes.  I'm starting to see unusual text that looks like code during game play.  Something is wrongt. 

I'm on day 565 or something, so clearly I'd prefer to keep my information if possible.  Can I reinstall the game without losing my information?  I am a Steam customer, if that is pertinent.

The save game files should be in your documents folder.  If you uninstall the game it should also ask if you want to keep your saved games.

How CAN you reinstall a steam game?

I apparently can't uninstall my warband and it's really getting on my nerves, because the current version is broken

I think I will need to do this too. the game has crashed 4 times. always after I defend Dhirim from a siege. and I can't take screenshots anymore for some wierd reason >__>

I have Steam also , in fact i buyed it there first .
But i don't play with Steam version . I explain .
I love got mods on M&B but i know Steam is a problem for it so .

I download free trial version in Talewords website . The full game but blocked at lvl 7 or 8 if no CD key .
Since i have already Steam CD key , i don't need wrote it again somewhere , the game run without asking ( guess my computer files have somewhere in memory my game CD key ) .

So i have Steam version 1.113 witch i don't play anymore then the one i downloaded from Talewords with 1.120 beta . The savegames are the same . Just don't play 1 version or the other if they don't have then same patch aka  1.113 and 1.120 . I can use 1.113 savegame to play on 1.120 but cannot revers or savegames files become corrupted and lost .

I got my game to start working properly  yesterday by deleting the RGL file in the savegames folder (to be on the safe side, copy it to somewhere else first). all you need to do after that is reconfigure any changes you did in options, like screen res etc. worked for me, so I hope it will work for you guys too (asuming we had the same problem).

Howcome? All you do is 'Delete local content', it's uninstalling really. Then you just install from your Steam library again.
