How to make cattle "follow" instead of driving them ahead in NE?

Hi, I know how to make cattle follow instead of run away from the player in Native.

But what must I change to get this behaviour in Native Expansion?

Thank you.

It should still work the same way as you did in native, I'm assuming you followed the method in this link: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,45900.0.html

Why do people find cattle herding so difficult?  :D

Driving cattle for new players. It takes a bit of practise, but it's easy really.

1: You've either bought some cows in a village or taken on a deliver cattle quest for a town. The cattle will spawn on the Calradia map somewhere near the town or village you're at.

2: Work out which direction you're going to be travelling in and rotate the map so you  are looking in the general direction of your destination. Get behind the cows relative to your destination.

3: Click on the cows and in the menu screen drive the cattle onward. Here's the important bit: you're driving the catlle, so you need to be behind the cows. Press the space bar and let them get a litlle way ahead, then all you need to do is follow them. If you catch up with them, press the space bar and let them get a little way ahead again. (Usually your party will be faster than the cattle.)

4: If you need to steer them, remember that if you move to the left of the cows they'll go right and if you move to the right of the cows they'll go left.

5: Don't let them get too far ahead as night falls as you may lose sight of them.

6: Don't panic! If the cows aren't travelling in the direction you wish, catch up with them and bring them to a halt, then line yourself up on your target and drive them on again.

It's worth buying one cow and driving it towards a market, just so you can have a practise. You can slaughter the cow when you get to the town and sell the meat. Do it early in the game as cows become more scarce and more expensive later on. And yes, it's a pretty tedious quest.

Thank you!

I worked it out, it was indeed just like in Native.
Suggestion: Make it an optional behaviour in the next versions of the mod, it is a very popular way to herd cattle like this (and allow change via the "Camp" menu)

Cattle driving is not hard to understand, and one can see it as an additional mini game indeed, I just find it annoying as hell.

It's really not. A quick search/replace in the text files does the trick. The question is if the search still gets you to the right place.

:( It doesn't and i'd LOVE it to work it's because one of the parts of the code isn't in the place of menus.txt file althougn ill try with native expansion i've only been trying with Native

Yeah, and Dude, just replace the "11" by a "4". Don't care about the rest of the txt. It doesn't matter if it's not exactly the same.
Just find your " 11 ".

knowing how to herd cattle is a very useful skill, and can be very beneficial.

last night, i wanted to capture a khergit town, but a rhodok lord was already seiging it.  a khergit caravan kept trying to get to the town, and he would chase it away then return.  so i dropped most of my troops into a separate party (i was playing Sword of Damocles mod, and you can order any soldier to become his own party) and i then "herded" the caravan back towards the rhodoks, and when they went after the caravan, i just kept cutting around in front until the rhodoks caught them.

so why not just learn how to herd cattle?

Herding is something most people can learn and master quite easily, but rather not spend so much time on it repetitively.

Honestly, chasing a lord down trying to bring him X amount of cattle cause he gave you the quest to is one of the most annoying things there is, especially if he gets into a battle and you have to help him end it quicker then as you run to go help fight the cattle go running off. Then you have to chase them back down, then find the lord again and hope the idiot stopped somewhere. So much of a hassle... why can't they just be like, get us X amount of Beef or chicken or bread or something. No they want the whole cow...
