I'd love it if this could possibly get stickied. This is in response to the latest topic on how to install a mod, i thought i'd try and help out the new guys. If people still post such questions after this then clearly they haven't read any of the notices.

So...
- First of all make sure your version of M&B matches the version the mod requires (check description).
- To install usually you just have to unzip the file into you 'Modules' folder in the M&B directory.
- It is also possible that the mod comes in a handy .exe file i which case it's a matter of double-clicking the icon.
- To run the mod, simply select it from the drop-down menu in the M&B startup screen, if it does not appear, make sure you placed the folder correctly.
- If the mod fails to run properly remove the mod and redownload and reinstall the mod first and again make sure you have the correct version.

Also there are no best mods...just browse the forum a bit to find some you like.

Yes but noobs don't check there first, they're like "ZOMG me want play mod, how install mod? sory i not check search. thanx "

These kinds of tutorials should be made every single hour to prevent newbies to bombard us with how to install a mod. Wich I think is rather obvius. So let's replace how to install a mod??? into how to install a mod!!!

Which is exactly why every new member should be bombarded with notices and threads...so even the particullary (misspelled i'm sure) stupid specimens stop asking us these things every week.

P.S.
sry if that sounded a bit strong.

lol nice, even i made one...

rofl forlike 5 mins

^^No need to get personal now, it was just a suggestion. It's true that we have another tread, but it seems to slip under the radar of a lot of people...i'm just hoping for a solution.

The only thing that needs to happen is the FAQ needs to be stuck at the very top of every forum. But anyone who has issues with the install OBVIOUSLY has problems following simple instructions. If they're not finding the FAQ thread it's because they also lack any sort of situational awareness skills. The title is clear as day:

The Apprentice Guild - Start Here <----- START HERE
The Library - FAQ (QUESTIONS? READ HERE FIRST) <----- READ FIRST

If they're not doing that, then there's a problem that goes far beyond the installing of a mod. Even a simple search of "install mod" will get them to where they need to go. I don't think we need a thread like this everyday. We need the FAQ's forum link stuck on every other sub-forum.

That's as close as makes no matter to reality. Why is it that it occurs to them to mention they haven't used the search function but it doesn't dawn on them to actually use the search function?

There aren't many texture mods, and the most popular one, Graphical Enhancement, comes in a thing called installer. It installs by itself. Just like the machines in Terminator 3. Except these don't kill us.

I suggest to lock this thread since its just turning into a discussion and not a tutorial (that has about 100 versions)...

Cheers,
MISHO
