How to become king

I'm currently waiting the kingdom to be close to collapsing due to the lack of estates all the lords seem to miss, and after that i'll be very close to the king and perhaps marry his daughter. If this is even remotely possible please let me know, it would be a big shame if i'm trying to nothing.

Is there any possible way to dethrone your current king, and you as a vassal to take his place?

Or becomming marshal is the highest rank you can ever achieve?

Also share tips on how to rule your kingdom once you get there

You can't depose the king without a claimant quest, which i think were removed in 1257. Anyway the devs said that the mod wasn't designed to allow players to become monarchs - the option's there, but it's nowhere near as easy as native.

There are infact two claimants for the english and danish crown, but unfortunetly those factions arn't of interest to me. Then i guess the old fashioned native way, by sword and conquest?

You can become king of your own faction, as in native, if you claim for yourself a conquered settlement, which at the end is not assigned to you (when you are already a vassal of some faction). You can also conquer a settlement on your own not being related to any faction and to start your own new faction. You can even choose your kingdom's religion. You can not change the culture of any settlement though. Maybe there is  a third option when you ask the pope for a crusade but I didn't test that so I can not confirm for the latest versions . the difficulty lies on surviving afterwards cose everyone attacks you...    At least in the first two cases ...

Yes, you can go to the pope and ask for a crusade with your own kingdom, but it is quite expensive. The only thing I don't like about it is that you can't choose the town or castle destination; if I am paying for a crusade, I sure would like to know where it's taking place. Where's that guy that drinks beer and loves historically accurate things?

Since this thread is on the front page, i would ask this question here instead of a new thread.

So i finally got to conquer a small parcel of land for my cozy little new Grand Dutchy of Lithuania kingdom, and everyone's asshurt and declare on me, like...alot of factions do that.

I know it mainly has to do with right of rule, my current is 27, does anyone know how much is aprox needed to get stable relations with everyone around you?

I think that, in the present settings of the game, it doesn't matter that much... I mean you get beaten no matter how high is your right to rule ... On the other hand what you can achieve with diplomacy isn't enough to stop them... they refuse to make peace anyway no matter what you propose ... That is why this game is supposed to work fine only when you are vassal ..... It's not that you can't go independent , It's just that with all those factions around, as potential enemies of a new kingdom, It's unrealistically difficult to survive ....    I tested that during the final testings of the game using cheats, just to see what happens. It was getting annoying fighting all  those marshaled armies even using cheats ..... I don't remember the exact numbers but it was like 10 nations against me simultaneously.......

it's to do with the number of factions already in the game. right to rule decreases the probability of other factions declaring war on you, but only to something like 20%. so huge wars are an unavoidable part of the game with the number of factions in 1257. I suppose that's why drtomas et al said that the mod isn't balanced for player kingdoms.

Thanks for your replies guys.

Currently there's like 7 small factions against me. Not that they're super hard to repel as i get unlimited ammo defending in a siege, but it definetely kills the enjoyment of the game and makes it more of a burden than a plesure.

Guess i'll start all over in hopes to finish the game as a vassal.
