How To beat the Nords in a battle (and most of the other factions)
first-take your infantry, then put it in the front, then put the archers behind them on higher ground, use the cav to harass then enemy, and basically reduce their numbers by a few (and mop up whatevers left of the enemy)

this is very effective if you have a strong archer force, a good infantry force, and a ok cavalry
and it will help you fight those HUGE forces of 1000 when you only have like 160

Positioning your infantry and archers is pretty well-explained.

But what exactly do you mean by cavalry harass? How would we go about to do that? Tell them to charge, then tell them to follow you or use hold position at your side?

If you answer this question, then thank you very much for these helpful tips.

You can't have a hill all the time near you. When that happens, move your archers at 1 meter in front of your infantry. When the enemy gets close, order Charge to infantry.

Cavalry should be used against enemy archers, after making sure they aren't surrounded by many halberds/spears.

Your tactic may work but this is suspecting that any archers lived dashing through the massacre aka your infantry keeping them busy.

I find that massed firearms with a healthy line of macemen work wonders. Both weapons (more or less) ignore armor, so even those annoying walking tin cans (Vaegirs) find themselves made short work of.

Better Idea 100 Mamelukes, 200 Merc. Cavalry, 100 Swadian Royal Knights, 100 Rhodock Condottire and like 10 heavily armed companions on horses.  This is my bare minimum force at all times works wonders

Good luck training 100 Royal Knights and Condotierri

It's not a money problem here. It's the fact that it takes forever to train one of those heavy cavalries. Training 100 takes a huge number of battles, during which you will lose some of them.

ya well to i just set like one of my compainions to level 50 so he can actually train the condoterri
That won't do almost anything. You and 15 other companions might very well be lvl 60 and you'll still need a lot of days to train a condotierri.

I reached lvl 46 with my barbarian, after slaying over 5,000 enemies, and I need another 5,000 to reach lvl 50.

Well if you set his trainer to 10 it helps, it still takes a damn long time but it helps the process and of the Condotteri probs like 30 are experts, the lowest they come are elite so i mean they are good straight out of the gate

Elite Condos are still pretty damn scary. Don't like the upkeep though. As someone else mentioned though, 80 Sniper Jezzailis will pretty much win the game for you. If you must you can grab some pikewall troops (I use Vaegirs because they look purty) and line them up to stop cavalry causing mischief. Only problem is when the AI just lines up their archers and you have to walk to them =/

Not that my opinion matters much, but I agree.

Well, Warband has better tactical capabilities then that of the vanilla.
Unfortunately, the AI still has an intelligence of a mentally challenged chicken.
But what stops you from making a spear-wall out of Rhodok troops, Position Nord and other powerful infantry behind 'em, with Vaegir and Sarranid archers positioned in the center of the battle or on an elevated position (namely a hill, or a river bank) and send out two squads of cavalry on the opposite far sides of the battlefield and strike from the flank?
Or create a Pig's Snout formation?

Nothing, except for needing to keep all those faction troops happy   In fact, most experienced players of the mod do this kind of thing a lot; I think that I've explained cav sweeps with infantry-as-anvil more than once.

The AI in Blood and Steel is, IDK, maybe a mentally challenged cat, which is to say that it's slightly smarter than Native, and adjusts tactics according to the composition of the army (Rhodoks, for example, like to sit on hills).  It doesn't always charge straight at you; even the Nords (who, because of their army structure, tend to charge) will occasionally do something semi-intelligent, like form up with infantry and archers.  It's still not very bright, though, and the Nords are probably the worst, because (being infantry-heavy) they like to charge.  Which usually doesn't work out, vs. a player using good defensive tactics.
