how to attack town

just got released from my vassalship and want to besiege a town. yet all I can do is enter it.

you have to be at war , attack one of that factions caravans to be at war / negative relation.

The quickest way is to attack a lord. You can even leave the battle before it starts as long as your relation with his faction has been lowered.

Be warned.... If you are not affiliated with any other culture and successfully take that town you want to attack, Whole capaigns of 1000 men will attack your newly acquired town from at least 1 faction.

To ward against this, be prepared to have at least 300 troops garrisoned at the town to scare off aggresive nobles and to help defend against the campaign.

Just send emissary first to declare war if you don't want to engage in any battle but to directly attack a specific town.

Edit: Sorry I guess you just released from vassalship without taking any of your previous Ruler fief, so in this case you are not a ruler yet. In that case yes you need to attack their troops. A quick tips from me. Just be calm, and do trading, when the war break up, side up with one of this faction, and take a city that was been taken so the garrison is lower than normal and the time you require to complete the siege also shorter.

You may be able to attack town regardless of your status if you have debug mode turned on.
