How to add a Backpack/Great Coat to a Unit?

Hello all, As the tittle says is it possible? I would like to
Add a Backpack/Great Coat to the French Naval Units.

I think that you would need to remodel the model, so that it includes a backpack.
After which you need to texture it.
There is probably more things that you need to do, but I wouldn't know I am not a modeler/artist.
