how on earth do you recruit lords?

i keep hearing about the player being able to recruit lords and hand out fiefs, do you have to own an actual town for this ( Ie Jelkala, a big thriving town that houses a king)  ??

You have to support a claimant and wage a rebellion. Other Lords can then opt to join you if you ask them.

You need to have certain mods installed.  For instance, A Dream of Eagles, or Roots of Yggdrassil.  The first one rocks.

No, no you don't. Its a native feature.

What the hell is a claimant?

Claimants are 5 people scattered over the land who for one reason or another believe they have a better claim to the throne of a kingdom than the current ruler. You'll find them in towns by going to the castle in each one. You'll never find a claimant in the same kingdom they are trying to uproot. For example, if you want to side with lady Isabella (or something), don't bother looking in Swadian towns as she's the Swadian claimant.

As for the handing out of fiefs, that IS a feature of certain mods, Kingdom Management, included in the mods listed above and others.

Although it may be a feature in some mods it is also a limited feature in native where you can distribute fiefs however you see fit while supporting a claimant.

Take over a castle or summat them either talk to the lorda asking them to join you or just go into camp and it might be their. Depends which version you have.

i think it's only available in some mods, you can't in native unless you are doing the claimant quest, but then you will HAVE to hand out fiefs to other people, and it is not your own kingdom you're recruiting for
