How much time do you think Bannerlord will be in EA?

They didn´t make ANY improvement after the 2 months refactoring, so yea...it will be "finished" in 2022. With less features than MB VC had years ago. And the fanboys will still love it.
You have no idea what refactoring is do you? The whole point is no features will be added during that time...

Stop being a troll Most Blunted. If you don't understand something - no need to chime in.

As for EA - last major patch added succession and finished the main quest in principle. Amongst many other changes; if they do a big patch like that ever 2-3 weeks then 1 year is easily possible.

Well, "officially" the game was to be in EA for 1 year. But the reality is that the game is, considering the current roadmap and corporate-speak we're getting from the community managers/developers, never going to be 'properly' finished. It's going to remain a bare-bones, shallow and unimerssive experience. The game is, apparently, considered to be "feature-complete". So.. The game will feel like it never truly left Early Access. And that's saying something about the competency over at TW, considering the 10 years the game has been in development.

Why are you defending Taleworlds?
First of all, the games has been in development for many many many years before even entering into "Early access". Now, the fact that TW decided the game needed a "code refactor", after ALL this time, should speak volumes about the state of the game and the state of the company (TW), if you need it spelled out for you: Neither is in a very good spot, at all.
The code refactoring is long over, and despite being long over, nothing of note or significance has been added to the game.
And even beyond that; the roadmap promises none of the features the game is lacking, and the developers/community managers are not communicating any wish from TW's side to add features the game is lacking and sorely needs.

I disagree with that last comment - the community managers are on here very regularly. here's a good example from today;

Progress is slow (yeah we agree there) but TW are aware of the concerns raised. having said that we are still 9 months away from actual release... and v1.5.0 coming shortly is looking to be a huge patch (at least MP wise).

Fact is we all love M&B, we all want it do to well. Let's see whats coming in the next patch and we can argue about things then.

You must understand that Callum is a community manager, he's not hired to "cater to our wishes", he's hired to handle Taleworlds communication with its playerbase. And there's nothing wrong with that, but Callum stating that they'll "forward feedback to the developers" is not in any way shape or form indicative of Taleworlds changing direction for Bannerlord.

Fact of the matter remains that no actual meaty content has been released since the EA started. An embarrasing code refactoring took place and ate up alot of time, and despite said code refactoring finally being over and supposedly leaving the game in a state that would be much easier to work with, we still haven't seen any meaningful content added to the game.

We just got informed that we're getting hooked spears and spear bracing. Let's forget the fact that we won't be seeing spear-bracing in singleplayer anytime soon considering the apparent disconnect between the SP and MP developers, but if troops are unable to utilize hooked spears, then it'll be a completely meaningless feature that won't affect the larger outcome of a battle. It also does nothing to adress campaign map imbalance in favour of Vlandia and especially Khuzaits, since their overpoweredness is derived from other sources (culture bonus, cavalry autocalc bonus, cavalry movement bonus & geograph), and not field battle performance.

We want feasts, we want manhunters, we want proper courtship, we want duels against competing lords, we want to be able to vote on anyone for a fief, we want longer peacetime, we want custom troops, we want to be able to assign orders to specific lords, there's so much we want and the game needs for longevity, but for which there's no sign that we're getting.

Thats actually not much of a list. Manhunters are just neutral parties; the minor factions take a similar role in many respects. Duels against lords - fair enough, custom troops? mmm.... nice but not urgent. Assign specific orders sure and courting yeah maybe - another thing that isn't urgent. Nothing here is very urgent and I imagine 90% of it will be included in the next few months. Nothing here I could honestly say is really important for the game.

Remember that there is a meaty patch coming Monday - it might not have much in the way of big showy features but it could have a lot of QoL features that SP & SP are desperate for. Lets see what happens. Last patch added succession, new conversation screens and an overhaul to the bandit hideouts - all stuff we requested.

Now I'm not saying I disagree with you; we do need a drive from TW to get the community excited again.. I just hope/believe the next patch will be it. And worst comes to worst - mod tools are coming; which means Kingdoms of Arda can start production!!! :xf-eek:

I think 1 year is entirely reasonable- just because you they haven’t said anything about a specific feature does not mean it isn’t in the works- for example the MP cosmetic armory - they haven’t said all that much, but a quick peek into the game files reveals that even though it isn’t currently implemented, that doesn’t mean that the devs are 0% done with making something

After the initial month in ea I had hoped that much of the bug hunting would be done and they'd start adding content but here we are and we still don't have perks finished so yeah at least a year. I just hope it doesn't go much beyond that.

They will say it is ready at the predicted time but it actually won't be ready and they will update it further on, mark my words.

No, that's not much of a list, that's a reply on a forum that took me 30 seconds to write. You continue ignoring the lists already available for months because you know that those lists dispel the myth that criticism of Taleworld is illegitimate.

You could say "nothing here i could honestly say is really important for the game", and you'd be wrong. Bannerlord is unplayable right now, there's barely any content in the game right now, and the content that actually is in the game is mostly broken and non-functional. The AI manages somehow to be worse than what modders created 8-10 years ago for Warband.

The game needs alot of content that is missing that everyone with half a brain expected to be in Bannerlord, a game developed over a decade and released in 2020.

TW can declare it's out of EA at whatever time they wish. They don't even have to finish whatever features they've listed. It's not like when it's considered "Live" there won't be patches and updates... Declaring that the game has left EA is a matter of communication, not a technical decision.

They update the game like once a year, so expect the game to be finished in like 3 years no cap.

At Gamescom in 2017 Taleworlds said: "we hope to have the game out, in some form, by the end of the year". Based on that rosy time estimate I would expect that the game could be in EA for another 8 years. I don't know for sure and I honestly expect that they don't know themselves.

?‍♂️

I think it will still be about the originally planned year, with more improvements closer to the end of EA period, but I could definitely see it go a few months longer if they end up needing that time. Another possibility is that they might release from EA but continue to work on lingering bugs and balances after the official release.

Yet any of these would have been 100x nicer than the cheering emotes we got instead. At least it would have had an effect on gameplay.
