i have 116 renown at the moment, does anybody know how much is needed to join a claimant?

Though you probably want more renown than that, or a high persuasion skill, to join a claimant, otherwise you're almost on your own. You have to convince other lords to join your side.

I'm playing Hundred Years War mod as Joan D'Arc Angel

I served as a merc captain for Charles V of France for a few months, but my plan has always been to (i) get my level up high (now 23 level) (ii) build up renown and relations with selected lords, then (iii) back Charles II of Navarre, and use that as a way to become un-Godly powerful (God spoke to me and _told_ me to do this . . . in a vision) . . .  (iv) get my supporting lords from Montpellier, Marseilles, Grenoble, Moulins, Le Puy, Clermont, Bourges, Angers, Tours, Paris on my side, take help me to take control of Avignon and Dijon (two of the riches towns in the mod), then (v) take control of a few castles closer to the English countryside; (vi) consolidate my, erm, I mean Charles II control of French areas, then (vii) push the English out too. In short, the way Joan herself would've done it if she was a cagey 40-year old guy like me instead of some naive vision-seeing teenage trollope . . . but I digress.

Problem now is this: Charles II is holed up in Bordeaux, an English controlled town. My relations with England are fairly bad, and before I reset the code to allow me to bet up to 1000 florins on a tournament, they wanted ~110,000 florins to get peace with me. Now that I have about ~200,000 florins in my pocket, they won't even offer a sum for peace!

I've tried "disgusing" myself and fighting, erm "sneaking" into town (BTW, do those "pilgrim disguise" outfits actually help with that!?) a few times, and just trying to take to him from outside the town to no avail.

Any suggestions on what I can do to get access to Charles II of Navarre who is in an English town where I cannot get into the castle?

Has your mercenary contract already expired? It could be they don't want peace if you are still in service of the french. I don't think you can simply undo the contract, but you can ask vassalage, and then immediately renounce your oath, and perhaps it works then (not sure though, you better have a backup save).

Haven't played that match for a while. 1200 Europe, then Fire Arrow caught my attention . . . this place is like a kid in a candy shop!

My contract had expired, but I guess I had really pissed off the English while I fought for Charles V. The relation was at about -100.

What I did to deal with it was this: upped the amount I could bet in tournaments to 1000 florins (denars). Won a bunch of tournies till I had around 200K in cash. Then I just kept visiting the English lords till I found one who would act on my behalf for the right price, which turned out to be abou 110K.

After that I swore to Charles II, and I was progressing with capturing castles and turning French Lords to our cause, but then got distracted by the other mods.
