How much health do horses have?

As to if it's low, the only way is to keep track of the damage it's taken (or get a white horse - then it is easy).

What about between rounds in one battle? Does the horse recover fully after a round ends? or partialy? or none?
And after a battle is over, does it recover fully? partialy?

I saw someone said something about this before, but he/she doesnt seem to be very sure either..

Horses have around 80-90 hp, so just keep track of how much damage you've taken.  Horse health display has already been suggested and i hope it gets implemented.  And horses do fully recover after each round of combat and at the end of battles.

Yeah, just count it, it's not that hard. Also, they were only about 50-60 before version .750, and they might be reduced again next version (i hope)

Reduced?Nope, then Horse killing would be too too easy.We are talking about a healthy specimen of at least 1000 pounds and a good bunch of flesh and bone(armor too) protecting the vital organs.Horses must be far more HP filled than men.

Implementation of some sort of horse health notification would be geat but there isn't really any way a horse could heal at all between rounds (unless it is a cyborg).

So nobody knows exactly how the horse heals in MnB? (between rounds or between battles etc, and at what rate)

Horses heal exactly between rounds. They are not heroes.

It may sound unrealistic, but you ordinary troops are not cyborgs, either. Put an arrow between their eyes, and they are fully healed next round (unless they die, of course).

Thought i answered that one...  They heal fully between rounds and after a battle regardless of skills/stats/or horse quality.  I even remember armagan saying horse and troop hp wasn't stored anywhere at all, so it resets to full.  If a horse is crippled in battle it is still healed to full hp after each round and after the battle, but the "crippled" status remains for about a month (heals faster with higher wound treatment skill).

As Calandale stated, it is easy to track the damage on a white horse.  Just look at the amount of blood on the horse and you can estimate the health, depending on the amount of blood that is shown on the horse.  Lots of blood = much health gone...some blood = some health gone.  Self-explanatory.

Or do as DaLagga stated...look at the damage your horse receives and then calculate how much it has left.

You could also do it like I do.  Just ride the horse until it falls over...now you know it has no more health

Oh thats rite. My bad..

You could also just NOT GET HIT... but I guess that's just too much to ask, now, isn't it? Heh heh heh.

Problem is your horse would get crippled sometimes if you use this actic over and over again. Which is a bit bad if your mount is expensive.

If horses hp would be stored between rounds in battle it would be nice if you could change mounts (provided you have two or more with you.)

At the beginning of a round you can access your inventory with that little chest on the ground, then you can see if your horse is crippled and change horses if you want.

Ok thanks for the tip.

And how big is the chance your horse is crippled?  when it 'dies'.

I'm playing with the 'Quit without saving' option, so I just load the game and start over if my horse dies.

I believe your horse has a higher chance of getting crippled when riding into a group of spears, rather than swords slashing it to death.

I've had my beginner horse (Saddle Horse) get crippled by a river pirate's Falchion   That only happened once though.

Can't change horses that way. Pisses me off.

Incidentally, horse damage is a weird subject, because while it should be pretty damned hard to take a horse down with an arrow (though not impossible), it should be much easier with some heavier chopping weapons. I don't know if they should have as many hits as they do, but instead higher armor factors, representing the way in which their bodies differ from those of humans.
