how many play M&B already?

I pirate some games (diablo II, Stalker, etc) but I readily payed my 25 bucks for M&B because I love the game and I think it has a lot of potential to be even greater than it is. 25 dollars to support a game that's in development is a small price for a great cause I think.

I bought it, and shortly thereafter my two roommates bought it. I whore it out pretty bad every time someone new comes along who I think might enjoy it

I cracked M&B .710, and then bought .753, and I am glad I did. I got my 3 friends to buy a copy, too.

You know, guys, talk of cracking or pirating is not allowed here.

I suggest you shut it and delete your posts if you can, or you'll likely be recieving a warning soon. (or even a ban if you've been warned for other things in the past.)

"I pirate this and that BUT bought this and that" is not an excuse for talking about it, either.

It was 10000 keys sold, or something. This was back probably over 2 years ago now. Honestly, 100000 isn't out of the question

hm, this thread got me a watched status, ah well, my own fault I guess.

Yep I remember when it was said they had sold about 10.000 keys and where able to live from this game, that was 2 years ago, I hope it was a rising trend but I think it is, because otherwise he wouldn't of reached version 0.96 and soon 1.0. Also Paradox wouldn't have joined in if this didn't have money rendering potential. I really hope the game will do good in stores tough, people here aren't the "average gamer", There's a lot of history buffs and let's say unique personalities here, your average "I'm walking around in a store and I think I'll go cruise the games section gamer/buyer" needs to be impressed because he has so much choice, pretty covers, nice promises on the back of the box and beautiful screenshots seem to be the weapons of seduction here, and there's plenty competition. But I guess selling the game and Marketing and seducing the walking money bags (gamers) is up to Paradox.

I think a couple of members posting in this thread have watched Pirates of the Caribbean one too many times.

I played the free trial for the version previous of .903 then I bought it in January I think, during .903. Easily one of the best games I've played.

It has to be close to about 75,000 or so. The game has been in development forever. And it's well known as a leading indy game. I personally bought it and talked some people I know into buying it. I also posted quite a few times on various message boards about it. A few times in the WoW boards when I used to play. I can safely say I gave this game a lot of advertising. And only because it is innovative and different and being developed by an Indy developer. And also because the price is not too high, and the developer is depending solely on the games merit to sell copies and not some campaign of false advertising, and pretty screenshots to sell the game.

This game has good gameplay, which is better than 90% of what gets put out in the market these days. Honest product for an honest price.

There are some publishers that really do not deserve anyone's money and who, generally, treat their own customers like **** and impose extremely ridiculous restrictions on them with things like 1984-esqué copy protection that doesn't even work and only inconveniences the actual consumers, requiring fruity stuff like constant Internet connection and periodic check-ups or it will "lock" your CD-key. When people dishonestly acquire games released by those publishers, those publishers just reap what they sow and I don't feel an ounce of pity for them because really, it's just a case of assholes being assholes to other assholes, and then the poor developer's stuck in the middle because the publishers are being... well, assholes.

However, nicking games from independent or small studios like TaleWorlds who work extremely hard to deliver a product (and sell it at a discount, too - Armagan got my :10bux: approximately 30 minutes or so after I downloaded M&B for the first time) is just bad, bad form.

100 000 sold copies of the game before it even is finished would have to be some kind of record; a lot of games don't sell 100 000 copies, period. I wouldn't be surprised if the total number of sales so far is around 20 000 - 30 000, but it really is impossible to tell for us mere mortals with no access to sales logs.

Also remember that Mount&Blade has a much lower production budget, as such increasing the profit per copy sold.

I'm curious how you got to that estimation. Searches =/= players.

I looked up copies sold of various games (on wikipedia) and did a comparison trend comparison between mount and blade and the other games. If the ratio was 1 to 10 (mount & blade to 'x' game) and 'x' game had a million sales then I'd assume roughly 100k copies for mount & blade.

Obviously not an exact science. I also only spent a couple minutes on it but you really took the time to do it right, you could probably come up with a reasonably accurate number. You'd have to compare games that have been around for about the same length of time, have similar marketing, genre, etc.

I bought it, and that's all that really matters.  Trying to convince some friends who assume it's another point and click sword game.  God help me if they ever see Frodogorn (who can flap his cape and make a snow storm and blind the Vaegir marksmen).

I think there is about a 100000 buyers, but there is many persons who play this game illegal I think.

Yeah I used to be one of them for a while, but then I bought it after seeing how awesome it was. I think people who enjoy this game will buy it, eventually..

There's many people who don't even know about it yet since it doesn't get the promotion games from major devs get. I don't know anyone who knows about it IRL.  When I went to a game store to buy it, the clerk, an obvious gamer, didn't even know he had it  I convinced him to buy it though. Told him it was the best game EVAR!!

Come on people we need to spread the word
