How hot is your graphics card?

My NVIDIA Control Panel only deals with colours and the moniter, nothing about the graphics card. It has a Moniter Temperature Levels under 3D Settings but it wants me to download a different program to check that out nTune or something.

I downloaded that, a really big help if you ask me. I use rivatuner to overclock, and ntune to monitor temperature levels. Also, ntune can be used to optimise your whole PC.

Dell ****ed up the 7900gs in my laptop by having insane fan settings. As a result it now blue screens somewhere just above 70 and shows graphical problems in the high 60's. I have a fan set up behind the laptop now which keeps it 60 and under. The temporary solution and the fact I will update soon makes the hassle of getting the card replaced not worthwhile.

My 8800 GTX only gets up to 60-something. With stock fans, stock everything. I think it's just because the P180 is such an awesome case.

The problem with liquid is possible leakage or corrosion. The thing I linked to above is passive, no fans, no water. Should be pretty quiet. Reviews I've read make me think it'll work decently. Cheap too (about $20). Of course, I've never used a liquid cooled system, so I can't really say.

lower it down to human standards through some form of drivers updates or whatnot

Not too likely, although you may be able to find a utility to lower the voltage or clock speed... reverse overclocking if you will. Drivers will have little or no effect on the parts heat output.

How's the actual wiring of your com?  Is it a mess inside your case?  If it is a mess tiding it up may even help drop temperatures as much as 10-20 degrees.

And are your intakes and exhausts set up right?  And any fan malfunctions anywhere?

I'm surprised you didn't notice this via any artificing or anything like that.  When my cards were running that high they had artificing issues all over the place.

It is a bit of a mess and I've tidied the case up to the best of my abilities.

Also, the cooler just arrived, installed with no problem, now my card is running at a nice 40 degress C.

Now, if I could only get the crappy little MSI fan on my motherboard to shut up I'd be golden.

Nice, just decided to order one as well, I decided to have money for something else other than just a new graphics card, so this will have to do.
What thermal did you use, or did you use the one that came with it?

I just used what came with it, it's pre-applied. Make sure you have some space for the cooler, it takes up the slot next to your card.

What is GPU1?

After playing Soldiers for an hour here is my temps (in celsious);

CPU: 31
Syste: 36
GPU1: 52

It also says my CPU fan is at 2836 rotations per minute, does that seem excessive to anyone else?
While my system fan is at 10 (er, I have a system fan? I know I have one on my power supply, my cpu fan and one on my graphics card...)

I think she's pretty hot, eh?

What is GPU1?

Graphics Processer (or -ing) Unit number one.

2836 rotations per minute

That sounds about right. I believe fan speeds can range a bit, 2000 rpm would be on the low side, 3000 and up being the higher side.

While my system fan is at 10

10 what? 10 rpm seems a bit slow, like, reaaaly slow. 10k rpm would be excessively fast.

(er, I have a system fan? I know I have one on my power supply, my cpu fan and one on my graphics card...)

Maybe you have a small one on your motherboard? I have a little bitty MSI fan on mine that's bugging the hell out of me, right near the CMOS.

It msut be the fan on my mobo, as it's still at 10 RPM.

I've got my 8800GT all installed, and it's running a bit hot. (Maybe?)

Played Crysis for a few hours at high settings and it was at 64 degrees celsious.

It's stabalized at 51 degrees now that i's not being used for anything demanding.

I dunno but that seems hot to me, maybe it isn't.

I still have thermal paste left but nooo idea how to apply that to a card or if it would void the warrenty.

64 is a touch high. My 8800GTX stabilises at 45 when not in use, and peaks around 55 when playing Crysis or similar. Might be worth turning up the case fan if possible; I've got four fans keeping the case cool.

Okay it hit 70 degress celsious. but dropped down to 50 after 10-15 minutes.

Earlier it didn't quite reach 60 though. But the maps seem to be getting progressively larger in Crysis.

The thing that nair bought looks interesting, how exactly is it installed? And, does it void the warrenty?

EDIT: It drops down from 70 really fast. Like, two minutes and it was at 60.

8800GTS (G92) idles at ~70C.

Then again, my case fans are at their lowest setting and the GPU fan is at 39% by default. Quiet, but hot!

Here's a good review, including a walkthrough of installation (pretty easy):

I assume it would void warranty, as you need to take the old heat sink and fan off. Not really sure, I haven't looked at the warranty details.
