How do you shoot the bows so accurately?

In third person? I mean the arrow goes A LOT under the actual crosshair not to mention the drop after some tens of meters. Do you use any sort of, I dont know, additional crosshair? Or do you like paint a dot on your screen or something?  :D

First person. And you get used to the inaccuracy of 3rd person and compensate for it. There is an alternative crosshair on Mount And Blade repository, just search for it.

No, I mean the crosshair itself is fine but thats not where the arrow actually goes. You seriously hit headshots from several tens of meters by aiming at the sky and measuring the drop?

It doesn't shoot that much under the crosshair. But yeah, it's not call of duty. You have to aim over.

Stop joking, guys. :)
Seriously asking, it seems impossible for me to hit targets at long range without having any, at least approximate, indication of where the arrow will land. :)

From over 70 meters i would say it's almost impossible to be accurate. Under that, yes it just requires some skill.

You're saying that the arrow is loosed somewhere below the cross-hair right, aside from the drop it experienced from gravity? I'd say just switch to 1st person while shooting to avoid the problem.

That indication is AFAIK gained by practice. Shoot with different strength bow in different arcs to sort of teach you how that particular bow shoots.

Practice, and a bit of luck. Experience teaches you the ballistic arcs of the different bows. Use ranging shots and adjust accordingly. Use the 'zoom' button.

Luck is a factor too, though -sometimes I just can't miss, and every shot is a headshot.

I use third person.  Better field of vision.  I can do very well with bows and somewhat decent with xbows but that is because I have shot literally tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of arrows since I started playing this game almost 4 years ago.  Just keep shootin'.

Only practice makes snipers

After years of horseback archery battles in original M&B I found it quite easy to score hits in MP too.
I can shoot accurately in first person view only with crossbow. When wielding bow I use 3rd. I think it's good idea to specialize either of them.

One hint: You hear a thud when your arrow hits the enemy no matter how far he is, so you can find the right shooting angle by just listening that sound. And when shooting far aim horses and soon you realize you can hit them quite reliably.

Fire 1 arrow.
See where it lands.
Componsate for it.
After a few shoots you will remember how far that bow shot, and thus starting to kill on quite the distance.
Been playing since 08, learning how to hit your enemy is easy. There is more advanced arts out there(rapidfire horse archery), which requires more skill.
