I remember reading ages ago on these forums, back in 08 or 07, people arguing over how to correctly pronounce faction names, namely the Kergits. I realise the way i pronounce the names of the factions might be different to the majority. I would just like to see how other people pronounce faction names and which pronunciations are generally considered correct.

The first time i played M&B, i automatically pronounced each faction:

Swadia: Sway-di-a
Vaegirs: Vay-gears
Rhodocks: Row-docks
Kergits: Ker-jits
Nords: Nords
And now Sarranids: Sa-ra-nids (probably should be pronounce Sar-ra-nids)

How do you pronounce them?

Swadia: "Swad-ia (as in swaddle, not as in sway)
Vaegirs: Vay-girs (the latter part sort of like "girl" only without the "l".)
Rhodocks: Rho-docks (Rho as in Chi Rho)
Khergits: Ker-gits (git as in spit.  I know its probably supposed to be jit, but I say git cos I'ma 'merican.)
Nords: Nords
Sarranids: Sarah-nids (might supposed to be said as "Sar-ranids", but once again, I'm American, so I reserve the right to Americanize any spelling I want  )

Swadia - SWAH-dee-ah
Vaegirs - VAY-jeer
Nord - NORD
Rhodocks - row-DOX
Sarranids - sa-rah-nid
Khergit - Ker-jheet

Not really - Everyone'll pronounce things slightly differently, and everyone assumes their way is right.

no

This thread is as much to find the 'official' pronunciation as it is for people to share how they personally pronounce the factions.

Oh, i thought you were saying no to all his pronunciations. I do find it funny how some people pronounce git in Kergits too. I know it's probably proper (either git or jit) but git in England means: "Git is a relatively mild slang term used in British English to denote a silly, incompetent, stupid, annoying, or childish person" or "git (a person who is deemed to be despicable or contemptible) the British call a contemptible person a `git."

I find the latter explanation of git to suit the Khergits .

Very similar to me, except
Swa-dee-ah (there is no "y" so its not "sway")
Rho-dux
Ker-gets

"Git" is also Southern American slang for "get," as in "git over 'ere boy and I'm gonna whoop you with mah bastard sword!"

Yes, but who listens to them anyway?

Using git for Khergit is correct anyway. Stupid, annoying and contemptible. Describes them perfectly.

Swah-dee-ah
Nords
Ker-gits
Rah-docks
Vay-gers
Sair-a-nids

Aetius, I think "git" actually describes them rather well.

CtrlAltDe1337, "get" also means offspring, often bastards, so the bastard sword was especially fitting.
