How do you make a wheat field?

It's sort of like a criss-cross of flat images. When you see it from afar, it looks solid enough. Play fantasy mod to see what I mean.
 
Like I said. Make something that looks like the things you get in boxes to separate jars, like this:

------------
.|..|..|..|
------------
.|..|..|..|

Then texture it to have wheat.
 
Alpha channels. Duplicate something like the native grass several times in the same mesh (so you can deploy a lot of it at the same time), make the texture yellow or whatever.

How do you get that into mount and blade?  Whenever I try to export to obj and import into brfedit, it doesnt load and gives the error:
This mesh does not have valid texture co-ordinates, do you wish to load it anyway?(I was planning to uv map in wings 3d since that doesnt lag on my computer like blender does)
Clicking yes gives this error message:
This mesh does not have valid normals, ensure you export vertex normals.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
And if I try to import into wings 3d, nothing shows up.

Im guessing I wont be able to get that in game and even if I am able to it will probably lag the game too much.
