How do you get fiefs granted to you?

The old versions allowed you to basically just stand off and then directly ask the King for a specific fief (or major city) when it was convenient. It was nice, but I'm glad that isn't something that can happen in this version. But how do you get fiefs from the king in Bannerlord2? They seem to only give them out when they feel like it, and you can't seem to sway the voting of decision making process at all.

What factors go into granting fiefs, and how do you get multiple fiefs when others already have them? The Kings seem to give them out in clusters, often giving multiple newly captured fiefs to the same Lord? How can I pile onto that gravy train?!?

Actually it's quite easy to get a lot of fiefs... once you get your first fief.. I'm currently sitting on 4 cities and 4 castles simply because i have enough influence to use 300 everytime I'm up for a vote... This usually brings up to 50% or 60%... Once you're able to do this, things kinda snowball.. you force one vote which gets you another fief, which gets you more influence which means you can force the vote for another fief and so on.

my advice would be to wait for your influence to build up to 300 or so and then use it to force a vote.

I think clan tier clan tier might be a factor. Kings don't seem to like having tier 5 clans with no land

Thanks for the help. How do you force a vote? Every time I see a voting opportunity it only gives me three options. One lord, another lord, or abstain. How do you force them to vote for you if it isn't an option? I could use my influence, but I don't know how to force that kind of a scenario or where to look.

You can force a vote on any fief in your kingdom that is not owned by your king. Just go to the kingdom-tab and then to the fiefs-tab. Click on the fief you want on the list and there is a button to change to owner. You need a lot of influence to do this and there is no guarantee you'll be eligible in the following vote. First you need 200 influence to force a vote on wether or not the fief should change owner. Then there's a vote on that. If that passes there's another vote on who's going to get the fief. If youre eligible you can spend up to 300 influence on yourself.

I've used this method to grab two cities and a castle in the Valandian heartland. Every time cost me about 500 influence. Once you start donating prisoners to friendly towns/castles 500 influence is easy to come by (just dont donate lords. They give little influence, so its better to get the cash). Only downside is that every lord hates me (on my enemies list). Only friend I have left is the king himself...

You can donate prisoners for influence!? So you mean the hordes of looter prisoners I have simply freed because they're worth 5 gold each and not worth the hassle, actually had a use?

Suddenly having a dungeon in your castle begins to make sense - free up space to take prisoners for donation. Question: Will prisoners in your dungeon eventually want to join up or nah?

Did a small looter-test:
2466 (starting influence)
2467 (donated 1 looter)
2469 (donated 2 more looters)
2471 (donated 3 more looters)
2474 (donated 4 more looters)
2478 (donated 5 more looters)
2483 (donated 6 more looters)
2488 (donated 7 more looters)

Seems like there is diminishing returns the more looters you donate, but still worth it.

it also depends on your king. if he got generosity -1, he's more than likely keeping as many fiefs to his own as he can even if the majority council voted for you, or somebody else.

my clan was tier 4 and i was a vassal for Battania, he only gave me 1 fief, one little outskirt castle, while the others have at least 3 or 4. so i leave that kingdom and make my own along with the castle. so clan tier is not really a factor, afaik.

the voting system usually pushes whoever doesn't have a fief yet in there, or if everyone gets a few, it'll be your turn around to get one more to be equal. always watch out when it's voting decision and see if your name is on it, you can use influence to vote off. if your name is not on it, you could exit to another tab, you don't have to vote at all, or abstain.

like somebody said above, you could also force to revote once someone already got that fief you wanted. but be careful because you could spend a lot more on it especially if your kingdom have "feudal inheritance" policy. i think it'll cost double if someone else force vote.

it's still early access, i don't think you'll be able to build a good relationship with any vassals unless you try to save him from captivity and marry a daughter of his (+30 relationship). because if if he has good relationship with you, he'll also vote for you.

I had the opposite problem, with fiefs being thrown after me, even if I voted for the other guy^^

Yeah I think it depends on the total distribution of fiefs in your kingdom. So I got some castles the normal way - after conquest my name would appear I'd vote for myself. After that they stopped showing my name for like a dozens of new fiefs. So I had like 700 influence and spent it to revoke ownership of other clans and vote for myself. I got up to 5 castles and 1 city this way. After that point I had the highest number of fiefs in the kingdom and whatever I did (influence or conquer the city entirely by myself) I couldn't get it awarded to me... So if you already have a high number, you wouldn't be even considered before everyone gets about the same.

On a slightly different topic, I find it strange that if you talk to the king directly you don't have the option to keep your fiefs.. You only have that option if you press 'Leave kingdom' in the 'Clan tab'. Maybe it's by design so your king doesn't obliterate you after you announce it? Because you get into a war with your ex-kingdom lol

Also, the double cost from Feudal inheritance doesn't work currently - it shows you must spend 400i to propose, but it actually draws 200 from your balance. Sometimes even less. I'm not sure if it's because of some perk.
