How do you eliminate a Kingdom?

Sometimes when a Kingdom is dead, I see a message saying the remaining lords have joined another Kingdom, then that Kingdom is gone.

How does that happen?

I've been fighting Vlandia for a long time and they're completely dead. 0 fiefs, 1 clan (king), yet they don't go away. I don't want to have to execute everyone and you can't recruit kings, so how do I eliminate them?

I think I've only seen the factions disappear when I killed the last remaining lord. However I have read people say that they were eliminated without killing and even that they recruited the ruling clans, but Idduno. It could be maybe the ruler has to be broke for a long enough time and then considers leaving thier kingdom. If so, it would probably be several game years of them being broke and feifless and alone. It's also possible that doing the dragon banner quest adds some scripted conditions to faction being eliminated and that's how people got rid of them without killing, but I'm not sure. This stuff is too far back and spread out for me to dig up.

Hopefully somebody has some other recent experience to share.

if they have no more towns or castles, there's a chance their leader clan will surrender and dissolve the kingdom. which allows you to hire them as vassals

have you try it out yet???
in Warband, the king will disappear after you capture all town and fiefs, but in bannerlord, it just wont disappear based on my last experience
