some reticle comes up, close togheter if i dont point it at anyone and if i moved or did point it at people it hardly ever hits them. this was even when i was a hunter and had 68 in archery. also i cnat hit them from horseback either. what should i do? also which is the best thing to pick for an archer, hunter? or should i pick merchant? then i get a decent horse....

Raise horse archery skill to reduce penalties while using a bow on horseback.

And to become really accurate you need to have your bow skill up in the 100+ range.

First of all, there are several archery guides on the forum. Find one and read it. Secondly, work on it. 68 is nothing, you only start hitting stuff around 150. Practice makes perfect.

You think you can't hit anything at 68? WTF? Sure, you can't really snipe guys from the other side of the map, but you can still turn enemies to pincushions at mid/close-range.

Greetings,

It's partly your skill you need to improve as well as your hero's skill.

You can safely practice timing your shots from horseback or foot by choosing weak enemies like river pirates and forest bandits.

Your hero can have his skills improved just by successfully hitting enough enemies - even if many shots miss and even if you don't kill - just try to make sure the shot difficulty is not too easy. Soon you'll see messages like "Your archery skill increased to 92" and so on. Obviously you can also spend experience points on these skills as well as on horse archery and related skills like power draw.

The actual technique of timing your shots you'll pick up on your own no doubt. In this game, using the weapon often enough will raise the skill.

Right now, a skill of 68 isn't high. It just means you can hold the arrow in the bow without it falling out or without you shooting yourself. As for which character class is best? I think the hunter starts out well, but the truth is you can easily develop any character into an elite archer very quickly.

I predict within a few days you will be a expert shot - if you practice it. I've seen other guys ask for help on Monday and by Wednesday come back and write "It's too easy!" Good luck.

thnx for the support, i jsut got the game(trial) today...im still lvl 1. it would be nice to see more then jsut 2 groups of people.

2 groups meaning only river pirates and manhunters?

Because if you venture away from Zendar, you'll find a lot more than that, especially after a few days.

Well, obviously you can hit them, and it's very likely if they're closeby, but it's only around 150 when the arrows really start going where you want them to, even at longer ranges.

Stupid Vaegirs can't even pronounce the name right. Swadian! S-W-A-D-I-A-N! Not Swandian.

Author's note: You're not really a stupid Vaegir, just ranting about a pet peeve.

huh? you can only start killing at 150?
im at 102 and im killing people with some 6.3 difficulty shot....
so far im in trial so i cant even get 150, since after lvl 6 it stops...
but i still manage to kill peple from far..
guess at 150 it will be verry easy....

What I mean is that at 150 there is virtually no chance that you'll miss the enemy because your character isn't skilled enough. You'll only miss if your aim is wrong.

150 is reasonable point to hit something on horseback.

My advise for starting class is, in my opinion, Squire/Court lady. Because he/she has excellent horse (spirited corsair) and decent cash and weapon (dagger, xbow and, when you join River Pirate hunting, shield).

Use xbow (which is far easier to aim/ much less frustrating to practise your aiming skill) while on foot (you can't reload it on horseback) and melee to gain level. Spend all skill points in level-ups in archery skill. When your archery skill hit 150, you should have decent weapon, money and stats.

Horse archery is still a big leap, however, from xbow. But your character's stats should be high enough to make things a lot easier than trying to improve from the scratch.

Crossbow is easier to use at first and has a higher base damage, but it's slower, there's no power skill for it, you can carry less bolts than arrows and you can't reload it on horseback. It's a matter of taste.

The Squire starts with a Swaybacked Saddle Horse, a poor Leather Jerkin (stats decreased by -2), a rusty Arming Sword, a Crossbow, and some Bolts, as well as ~120 Denars.

The Court Lady starts with a Spirited Courser, a Dress (possibly Woolen), a Dagger (possibly Watered-Steel), a Crossbow, and some Bolts, as well as ~150 Denars.

I find the Court Lady to be the best start for a horse-archer. You begin with an excellent horse, and after a few battles with River Pirates you're likely to loot some Arrows (possibly Bent). Trade in your crossbow and buy a low-grade Bow and you're set.

i have a hard time getting money, and buying borcha out of prison, and the other dude is padded cloth? also with just my self i find it hard to win battles?
