How do u get some good money in a pretty quick way, ive been trying and the most ive held at one time was 500 gold. Whenever i do have that i generally lose a battle, or buy a good wep or w/e, and i have to start over. The only way i have to make money right now is tournament...but its pretty slow...so can anyone please help me out, id really appreciate it.

I find taking 'kidnapped daughter' quests, then keeping the money and killing all the bandits works well for me.

Slaves, five of them brings in 100 gold. Just get a blunt weapon and bash in some heads.

Definitely tournaments.
Time does not advance when in the arena, so theoretically you can get infinitely rich on the day 0 hour 0.

Prisoners are worth 20 each, early in the game you can join in battle between manhunters and whoever and take some prisoners with them. If you fight the richer warparties like the Sea Raiders, Khergits, and sometimes the Dark Hunters, you might get decent armor and weapons as loot from them. For trade if you have Marnid he has a trading value of 3 or 4, so then you can even trade to get decent money. Once you have enough money to complete quests from one of the Kings and his Counts you will get paid more and more until you are rolling in it.

the trade game gets your rich the quickest if you have lots of inventory space and ok tarde (just get marnid for that)

ale, fish, and poterry give you the most profit, though oil and wine are not far behind

This is the best way to make some quick cash when you start a new game.

I'd suggest do the tournament and get yourself around 300-400 denars, so you can buy yourself a regular saddle horse (or a better horse if you can afford it) and a jousting lance. Take the river pirates quest, then go hunting for river pirates, and couch lance the whole lot! Make sure you have a prisoner skill of 2 (so you can take up to 10 prisoners at once).

By the time you complete the river pirate quest, (as long as you captured and sold all the river pirates you faced) you'll have earned probably around 2000-3000 denars.

Ya mod the tournament so instead of betting 5/10/20/whatever gold, you bet 100/250/500/1000.
Then you'll get rich pretty fast.

(Increase the difficulty too, and it couldn't be considered cheating :D )

Generally, I start with basic training, which makes me level 2, then hit the tourney until sometime after level 3. Now that I am more practiced, I can make money in the tournament as a squire base. You can start as a trader base instead, which gives more starting cash and goods, and better charisma and trade skill, but makes fighting tougher.

Once you work up a basic stake, you start working the merchants. Don't hire any men, and don't buy more than one or two items at first. This will keep your overland speed above 9, which will outrun everyone. Don't take any quests, just run goods, and add cheap (lame or sumpter) horses to your inventory, as this will increase your carry ability without reducing speed. Join battles in progress for XP; note that you can always leave these battles. Retreat if things are going badly, don't be KO'd as the last man standing, and you will lose nothing.

You should be able to solo the River Pirate groups, which is another source of XP and weapon skill powerups. Take the quest, it's only 125 extra gold total, but you'll be killing the pirates anyway.

Once you have a couple thousand in gold worked up, get Marnid (he has trade 3 to start) and Borcha (he has tracking and spotting to start, which makes dodging unwanted fights easier). Make sure both are mounted. You will level some off of fighting XP; use some skill points to increase your inventory skill to hold more horses and goods. Be careful when traveling to the west or the north; Black Khergit Raiders and Dark Knights are relatively fast overland, so keep your cargos small and your eyes open there.

Once you have enough cash for a good horse (spirited saddle horse or better) and a lance, hire a few men (this assumes you have mastered the couched weapon, if not, practice on River Pirates) and escort a few caravans. Don't get fancy, just get them there. This will open the other merchant quests, and you can dump your slow footmen or recruits and take delivery and kidnapped girl quests that allow you to keep your speed up, while making both money and xp.

After a bit of this, you should have leveled up yourself, Marnid, and Borcha quite a bit, and you should have gotten decent equipment and mounts. You also should have a decent string of packhorses, some cash, and perhaps even a few rescued horsemen and knights. Now you can start hiring footmen or militia. Once you have a full company (remember to leave at least two troops slots open, and be one at least one man down, so you can promote troops and still take the kidnapped girl quests), level them up with troublesome bandits.

At this point, you should have a powerful military force, good equipment, excellent allies, and a large cargo capacity. Now you can do pretty much what you want.

No, salt is. At the beginning of the game, before any enemies can spawn in the map, go alllll the way up to the salt mine, and buy as much salt as possible, and sell the items you dont need (like the furs you start with if you're a hunter.) Then, go to Halmar or Zendar (halmar is closer, zendar buys salt for higher price.) Sell all of the salt to the merchant, then return to salt mine.

I think you get a 300% or 200% profit off of this.

Later in the game, there is quite a bit of denars to be had off war parties and the like. Completing the "retrieve 5 swords" type quests can be very profitable especially if you give them the bent/cracked/lame variety. The Kidnapped girl quest also gives a good bit of money early on and it is pretty easy to accomplish.

i didnt even know thta the salt mine sold salt as their "special trade item" thx for tellign me now ill do that a lot more

I find that sea raiders are really good to make a profit off of. They've got really good equipment that sells for just as much if not more than the war parties, but are much easier to take down since they don't have cavalry.

A) Just trade - get Marnid in your party, visit each town and make a list of what they sell cheaply and pay lots for, then just buy and sell goods. This is boring though.

B) Buy a jousting lance. This is seriously the easiest way to make money. Jousting lances do blunt damage - as soon as you get a steppe horse or better at the very beginning of the game you should be able to couch the lance for 50-70 damage each hit on river pirates. Bump up your prisoner skill a bit and you'll be rolling in cash in no time at all. Plus you get experience and equipment, which gives it the advantage over training.

On the plus side, the jousting lance has the longest range. No more coughed lances in YOUR chest when you go head to head.

Yea, nothing worse than trying to swallow a lance and having a coughing fit :)

I tried getting rich by trading too, but seriously it wasn't any fun and even worse it doesn't earn you any experience. So I bought a horse and joysting lance and never looked back - hunting for slaves is fun and profitable at the same time

am i missing something? I thought slaves only give 5...

It's 20 denars per slave (that's 200 denars in 'old' money :P )

Like I said earlier, take the river pirate quest and take all the river pirates prisoner ... By the time you complete the quest, you'll be rolling in denars!
