How do I know if that group is going to join this group against me?

I have been on the world map being followed by 6 or more groups of bandits all queued up so close together you couldn't clearly pick one out and turned and fought each group one at a time.  Then I have turned and fought a group seperated from another group by quite a distance and had to fight both groups.  How do I know whether or not I'm going to fight one group or everybody in sight?

In my experience, if they're the same bandit type they will group if close enough. If you're chased by looters, sea raiders, tundra bandits and taiga bandits, they won't join up. The group-up range seems indeed to be flexible sometimes and hard to guess, perhaps it also has to do with their party speed, I don't know.

I think the more speed you have than your pursuers, the shorter the distance required to stop them from pursuing you.

Very slow parties with a high amount of men tend to stop pursuing quite early. Parties that almost have the same speed as you tend to follow you across half the map. At least that's my experience.

What you say is true, but read the OP again. The question is about parties grouping up against you or not.

My rule of thumb is .. my thumb. If my thumb can cover my party and the furthest party, they are gonna pile in against you.

I've had Sea Raiders and Tundra Bandits gang up on me at the same time.

If you mouse over the bandit group and their stat is "following you" they´re gonna pile and try to rape you if another party of bandits catch up with you.

I´ve fought tundra and sea riders because a group of 3 looters where faster than me -.-"

98 bandits against 5, no heroic victory though

I've had Sea Raiders and Tundra Bandits gang up on me at the same time.

Then I must be confused with some mods. Obviously then at least Sea Raiders and Tundra Bandits count as the same faction in Native.

I saw the OP last night and just figured it out a few minutes ago while playing. It was actually a question I was wondering about too.
