How do I keep towns/castles for myself now that I am running a kingdom?

So, I own a lot of castles/towns already. I got them before I finished the main quest and started my own kingdom. It seems I can't give any of those properties to my new vassals. But my main interest now is taking a town for myself, in a spot that I need more control over. I can't seem to do that. After the 24 hour period, or before that if you manually do it, you can assign it to a vassal. But you can't choose to keep it for yourself. Then you can propose a new owner, but you can't choose yourself. Any way to choose yourself?

Anyone? Can you not keep conquered lands for yourself after your form a kingdom?!?

sorry can not help. i do no many things have not been added to the game yet. i have over 100hrs now joined a kingdom so i could just test the game out with what we have.
