Hello, I'm willing to improve Native Expansion advertsing to get more people to know this mod.
I would like to know what techniques have been the more efficient for you...

You are allowed to make 2 answers in the poll, and to change them if you want.
Comments welcomed.

Thank you.  :)

"From a friend, outside of the Taleworlds forums".

Found Mount and Blade, and recommended right alongside the link to the game was "And make sure to use this mod because it's a bazillion times better than the vanilla game."

Having played Native for about 150 days game time, checked out the Cartographer's Guild and downloaded it.

For me, the big selling point was the Detailed Features List, with 74 numbered features. The features were great; the flexibility to play the game as you want to comes across loud and clear, and this was why I chose it.

There is probably a subconscious thing going on too - Native -> Native Expansion.

Like Josef, it's really the detailed description that got me into it. Other mods may be great but simply don't have detailed information about itself apart from having flashy looking banners/sigs and some generic screenshots... Banners and such don't really say much since graphic-wise there isn't a large distinction between mods.

If the folks who made the mods aren't putting the effort into explaining what their mod is all about I don't bother to check them out myself.

saw some thread were some guy asked if this was a real expansion but they said it was just player made but it was great anyway. I never played any mods before(on any game) but i decided to check this out anyway :). glad i did.

Yeah, if you wanted to up the 'Through a Banner/Signature' stat above, you could design a couple of banners that actually reflected what sets this mod apart. I mean, your banner, Lord S, is very elegant and all, but doesn't say anything about the mod.

Banner#1 (to emphasise kingdom management): on left, a picture of a blacksmith's hands holding out your crown from the game; on right, text of "Your Crown Awaits" and maybe "Real Kingdom Management with NE".

Banner #2: Tinker [pic of Looter], Tailor[pic of soldier in snazzy threads], Soldier [pic], SPY! [palace spy pic]; Rule your Kingdom YOUR way

Banner#3 (to emphasise flexibility of mod]: on left, pic of Alyssa, Klethi & Deshavi. Alyssa in foreground, winking; text of "Native Expansion: Play It Your Way"

You could do up #3, go on all the other forums and make an entry in their 'What's your favourite weapon' topic, and watch your advertising dollars at work.

Disclaimer - #2 makes no sense, but had to pad it out so #3 doesn't appear in poor taste    :)

I got here after hearing about it in several discussions over in the Zendar forum, then clicked on a link in someone's post.

Here, you can have this one for free:

Saw it on here as the featured mod. :3

If you want people to try it, just say it has something from Lord of the Rings in it or something.

Read about it in Town Square, most comments were very bad, said it is combat oriented and def. not anyones taste. Decided to try, as I wanted more heated battles (1 horsieman vs 40 whatevermen was getting boring). Found this quite good actually.

I hate banners, They are either too big or too stupid, or (usually) both.. (c'mon, you have 4 banners in a row, under your signature, total size being bigger than 20 your three words word posts, take space.)

Feature list was good thing too, as most mods are without any introduction, sure mod might be good, but if I don't understand WTF is going on, it is useless (to me atleast).

Was just reading Ironmanns Little Bigger Starters Guide and realised that it's probably the best of its kind. So I reckon the importance of clear documentation in your sticky section is a big help. Most people that come to M&B will, after a couple of weeks, decide to download their first mod, and this stuff helps immensely (the other big factor being what kind of experience you're looking for, be it fantasy or vikings or whatever).

Of course, I don't know what percentage read the documentation (5%?), but the Feature Thread and Ironmanns thread are a huge plus for this mod.

I agree, Ironmans thread was a great help when I started playing.

I love your artwork, man.  You're good. But I'm still waiting for this portrait of Suno Lisa :D

This banner is a bit large for proper signature use, though.

Maybe smaller?

Anyway, if we advertise, I think we should focus on:
1. Kingdom Management
2. New Items, new troops
3. More fun
4. Dark Knights

Something like... "Your kingdom awaits... Will you have the guts to hold? Native Expansion." A picture of a king on one side, angry ennemy kings (and queen) and a Dark Knight on the other. Epic.

I don't know, it's just a ...
And if we believe the poll, signature advertising didn't really bring loads of new adepts till now.

Discuss.

In my personal opinion, to advertise yourself as an expansion to a game that touts itself as being the "medieval, no BS, no fantasy simulator", making the Dark Knights the high point of your billboard might be a bad idea. If my opinion were to be asked (and it wasn't!) I would emphasize:

Kingdom owning/management
New troops, new items
Expanded battle tactics and redone battle scenes

Which altogether make for a more fun and immersive experience.

Actually, we don't really have sig banners for the mod. We have a single one, which you may have seen. Other than that, we just use the plain

"Native Expansion: *link*"

like the one in my sig.

Hey, get back on topic.

If I get chance next week, I'll have a go at putting something together. Depends how busy I am at work, as per usual.

i really like this mod except it takes forever to build something in SOD it takes like 20 days max for 10 engineer and thats SOD's only upside

Was looking through the Cartographers guild, and checking the features of all the released mods, having got bored of Native. Out of all of them, I chose NE because the feature list was longer than my arm, looked damn interesting. and didn't do anything that radically changed the game. :)

The alternative was EGIII, but I decided to pass on that when I found there were invisible guys on fire. xD
Maybe some other time. :)
