How are your frame-rates per second

Users who are viewing this thread

I have a decent system which I use to run other games

Athlon 64 3800+ CPU
XFX 6800GT GPU
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum GeForce 4 Ultra motherboard
1 Gb of DDR 400 RAM (Crucial Ballistix)
Antec 480W Neopower PSU
Aspire X-Navigator computer case

Mostly M&B is running real smooth at about 149 to 150 fps, but during those large battles (I cranked up battle-size slider all the way to the right), things can get slightly 'choppy' (no pun intended) if my character looks in the direction where there are a lot of combatants on screen (especially horsemen) with framerates going down to about 50 - 60. A lot of footsoldiers are OK, but a lot of horsemen and you notice a bit of choppiness. I did however enable every video feature in the options screen.

But the game is still very playable, even at the most crowded battles. People say that the graphics are not cutting edge, but this game can still tax a decent computer system because of its extensive animation. So it is definitely no lightweight.

What are you guys using to run the game ?

I have been playng M&B daily for almost a week now, and the more I play the more I appreciate how good it really looks.

Athlon "Barton" 2500+ @ 3400+ speeds (overclocked)
Radeon 9800Pro @ 9800XT speeds
Abit NF7 Nforce 2 motherboard
1GB (2x512 sticks) of Corsair "Value" Ram
Soundblaster Audigy 2 Value

I use 6x Anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering on all of my games. In Mount and Blade I usually get around 65ish FPS and sometimes reach around 35ish during large battles (but that doesn't last long). I could probably easily get at least a steady 60FPS if tuned down the 6x AA/16x AS ;).

A "decent" system? WTF?

50-60 fps is "slightly choppy"? Your brain can't even process more than sixty frames per second!

But enough of that.

Mine is XP1900+ with 768 MB and a trusty old GeForce Ti4200 64.

Works fine enough, although with thirty kniggits slugging it out tends to put the framerate down to 10. That is more like choppy.

FPS are as low as 20 and as high as 200. For the most part the game runs great but there is some wierd slowdown in taverns and shops that happens for reasons beyond my understanding. But alt+enter and back again fixes it.

I have a Athlon 1.8 gh
Radeon 9100 128mb
and 1GB ram

I get continually 140 to 150 during map travel and mostly over 60-70 in large battles, over 100 in smaller ones, so no problems here... ;)

I have:

P4 2.6Ghz
2x512 KHX PC3200, 2-2-2-4 timings
Radeon 9800XT
SB Audigy 2

All options enabled, battle size to max, highest AA and AF. I get 70-180 or so, with occaisional dips.

Well, my eyes do not lie to me.

When the frames drop suddenly from 140+ fps to 50 - 70 fps during large battles the picture gets choppy.

Would it be possible that this is due to my monitor refresh rate or something else ?

I'll take your word for it, of course. It seems to me, however, that my framerates during combats are not as high as 50 fps and I have no choppiness whatsoever despite having all the options enabled including large battles. :?:

I get a good framerate (>30 FPS) except during large battles. It then plunges in to low 10s range (e.g. 12.8 FPS).

Totally agree with this dude, you cant see 25-30+ framerate, my framerate is 149-150 i dont know about big battles, never had bigger than 20 man, it went choppy 1 time, but could be by an other reason (azereus or something like that)

I hate you people! My framerate gets to 30 if I'm LUCKY! Most of the time my old junker fo a ciomputer chugs along at a lovely 13.... sometimes dropping down to 7. The lowest it has ever gone is 3.

I still manage to play. and laughter things elft and right, so I don't se where you people get off whining about "choppiness" at framerates of 30-40!

I fought a few battles with all the options set to max and just observed the framerate which did indeed jump more than I'd thought but if I weren't looking at the fps I wouldn't known it was changing. The battles were always smooth whether the fps was at 80 or plummeting to 40. Maybe it's something else affecting your game's performance. I still think 50-70 fps should not be choppy anywhere.

I average about twenty. It gets up to fifty sometimes, or down to eight or nine other times. I only notice choppiness at below 12 or so fps.

I do not doubt your eyes, it is most likely that it's your monitor's refresh rate. If the image seems to be tearing up when you turn the view, then it's the v-sync thing.

It could also be that the framerate goes momentarily down to 30 or less, although I don't think that should be possible without some serious hard drive overhead or somesuch.

Anyway, be glad and get chopping.

it usually OK for me, however in full size battles, where everyone is horseback, it drops to 20 or below and is annoying. I noticed that fading horses is to blame mostly.

Nvidia 4200, old P4 without HT :( , gig ram and SCSI 15K disc.
