How and when is death applied to player?

So actually couple questions here; it seems there are various ways that death can apply to different characters including the player and I wonder if someone has more info on this.
So in the early stages of the game if I did loose a battle and by rights should have been dead, I always wound up a captive as it always was the case in M&B.
But now you are supposed to be able to get killed in battle and pass on your inheritance to your child; does that possibility only get triggered once you have a child that has come of age? 18 I think, until then you can't get killed?
There is a tab to allow death for companions, so that is optional and only seems to apply to them; however I am wondering about your spouse and children.
I learned from bits mentioned on other forum treads that someones wife died in childbirth, so that is apparently a thing, but can she or the children also die in battle?
Because in other ways the game distinguishes between regular followers and your family so I am guessing that the optional death tab in the menu does not apply to family members. Any insights? Thanks

character death currently does not trigger at all from battles.
supposedly you should be able to die from old age and sickness at some point but i never got that far.
and yes wife can die in childbirth, but that's about it atm.

the enable character tickbox in campaign options is a lie and does nothing, if you want to have character death in game then you need to use mods like https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/1164

I witnessed a streamer having his main character executed after a battle, his wife became the playable character immediatly after the animation. I don't think he was using any mods.

I don't think anybody on the stream understood why it happened. It was hilarious though.

It's not implemented yet either. But then whole family and inheritance thing is not finished either, so there really is no point at this stage.

That sounds terribly familar

If you want to watch me continue adventures with the wife tune in to my stream

and to someone after this, no - not using any mods for death. So yes, you can be executed by the ai if you get captured. Pretty funny and cool

thats actually a great way to get a better character. start out normally until you can defeat noblemen parties, get married to a good character. now you just have to be evil, execute a few lords until your cruelty is high. then lose battles until executed and boom, high lvl character and good gear

only downside is that there is a bug - atleast in my campaign, that I cant do any diplomacy with other factions as the wife - peace is completely disabled from the dialogues.

but I kinda like the hardcore - war with everyone gamestyle, game is a bit too easy otherwise. Now I am really fighting for my life  great stuff!

I want to know if other lords can die. I married Rhagea's daughter so I'm hoping Rhagea will bite it leaving me as co-emperor. My relation with her is at 100, and she certainly likes giving me fiefs, so maybe with that trust level there she wouldn't notice if I slipped some poison in her wine.
