How about a blacksmith feature?

I dont know if this has been suggested before... But how about a blacksmith feature?

A place in town where you can order any item to be made... It takes a certain amount of time and costs more than if you found it in the marketplace...

I dont think this would be to over powered as long as the extra price/time balanced it out...

It would be easy to implement, but hard to balance and to justifiy.

- we could only affect all item prices the same way, i.e. all prices x 2 (as far as i know - otherwise we would have to add several penalties for different weapon types, but it still wouldnt be representative)
- how is it explainable that your blacksmith is able to create every weapon? is he the best one there is?

-as i see such a feature somewhat as a cheat, because of the afore mentioned reasons, why dont you just activate debug - go to cheat menu in camp - and find an item?

EDIT: Oh and this really belongs into the suggestion sticky

What about making items of higher quality? While I generally have no problem exploring every town to try and deck myself out in lordly/masterwork/champion stuff but I'm still a fairly impatient person and if I could access highest versions of all items through something like the 'find item' I'd have no problem with it since I still have to pay for it which means only locating it is easy.

If you were to go, possibly, complicated for the sake of immersion you could ask you constable to commission the best smith/horse trainer to make your high priced and prized armor or whatever. If it were me I'd probably do something like that, like a competition for all the smiths of the land to try and make me the best armor to prove their title and get a steady supply of commissions for the army or something like that, but now I'm trailing off into the realm of getting overly realistic perhaps lol

Having a feature just to have a feature works to a point, but this is a better idea for Rigale than the Floris Mod Pack.

Blacksmith can create any item?

Bad idea.

Brilliant.

And maybe to better balance it out, the effect would be random. The Alchemist (it better suits what I'm going to write now) tells You, that he could TRY to enhance that item, but he does not know what effects it will yield. Also, this requires some expensive alchemical ingredients, so it'll cost ya. If he "fails", the item may not change entirely, it may be destroyed, or get a lower quality modifier. If it works, You get a random "good" modifier. Maybe also make it so you have to wait some time to get the weapon back, like 2 days. AND You need to wait between "rerolling" items, because he has many customers. In that case You could bribe him, or maybe threaten him, which would work with high persuasion, if it fails, You'll have to wait more.

What about having your servant buy an item you specify! He'll go around and look until he finds it.

How about this: instead of forging from scratch (which could work a bit like the mystic merchant), the blacksmith could reforge an item you already have for a price, and increase its quality by one or several steps.
This could be balanced by making weapons, shields and armor breakable in battle, which would then require a blacksmith to restore them to their previous level. I think someone mentionned this feature exists in another mod (brittania?). I always found it odd that I can hack through a hundred defenders in armor, with my sword never loosing its edge. ^^

All these ideas are good...

Im not after a cheat... I would happily pay much more for the convience of this feature... Perhaps have a few blacksmith buildings in "manage this town" which cost alot to build and open up certain levels of items? Your quite correct that not every blacksmith could create every item... But I find it hard to believe that as king you couldnt outfit your companions in identical black armour... It might cost a bit but it could be done in the realms of realism...

Another small idea I had was a simple color editor for the items... Any chance of something like that? You know so you have a red helm but you want it white simply edit it like you can edit the faction colors in the camp menu...

Yes painting your armor on the fly would be pretty nice. Nothing like conquering the world in hot pink armor just for the, assuredly manly, giggles lol however I'm betting you can't edit the textures ingame sadly

this option would rock as i am currently a new king in calradia and ive been going from town to town to find one of those crown items but cant find any that are in reasonable condition.
a feature like this would save me the trouble of searching and would give me something to use the 200,000 coins ive got saved up on

For the time being use the find item cheat. You still have to pay for stuff there

Does Britannia has this feature? I like your idea - having arms and armor slowly loose some of its power along battles... then, if there's enough money to manage your town and have a blacksmith building, you could upgrade or fix the weapons and armor.
