Im mot sure but I strongly suspect that you can not hit the head of a horse with a ranged weapon. In arena, I was aiming to head of the horse and I think arrows just pass through it like its a ghost. Anyone have solid info?. I suggest to change it if its intentional.

Yes, i believe you are correct. I know that when i slash an oncomming rider, my blade passes right through the horses head without harming it. Personally, i think it should stay this way if we are going to have horses have seperate hitboxes from the rider. Otherwise, it would be several times harder to hit the rider, thus overpowering cavalry even more so.

I agree with Dalagga, however I would not mind having the upper neck of the horse exposed to damage. Horses would lower their necks when running, so unless the rider is deliberately pulling on the reins, swords should still pass thru and hit the rider instead of the horse. I would prefer not to have 'head shots' for horses. Physically its possible, however this will be highly prone to exploit (in my oppinion).

Nope. It's not the same as having a headshot to infantry. Horses are fast and they're maneuvring. As a horse archer, I feel vulnerable against high level cavalry, 15-20 dark hunters etc (without exploiting AI). Taking their horses down with a single headshot occasionally would be fine and would not be overpowered.

As for melee combat, you can wait until the head of the incoming horse passes you a bit and then make your hit to rider.

Its nonsense to make the heads of the horses "ghostlike" just to make the game easy for unmounted players. Im sure people will find the ways around and will adapt the situation quickly.

Being able to do that while mounted IS an exploit.

Obviously you don't fight on foot much. That is not an option because if you waited until that point, YOUR head would already have been removed by his sword.
