Horse change in battle

I searched the bug forum and didn't see this, so...

Changing horses in battle does not appear to work. I usually keep a decent spare handy so I'm never caught on a lame one, but if I try to mount it at the start of a "heat" (by dismounting, going to my inventory box, and switching horses) I'm still on the lame one.

Anyone else run into this?

I'm guessing it's intended, but some kind of message (ie "You can't switch horses during battle!") would be nice. ´

Perhaps something similar should be done with armour? After all, putting on full plate armour took like 20 minutes, iirc.. I'm not sure it'd improve gameplay really, but might be more realistic.

If you change the horse during battle, the change willl be effective for the next round of the combat

The switch is delayed? :? I guess that doesn't make sense as a game mechanic to me. And yes, while armor wasn't easy to change in and out of (at least the heavier and more complex forms), extra mounts were indeed kept on hand by those who could afford them.

Also, on the battlefield one would often have a fairly obvious "encampment" where pages, carts, etc. would be kept. Except in rugged or wooded terrain this would be fairly easy to find. Not so in M&B; there's no marker save for a tiny inconspicuous bundle for one's stuff. This compounds matters, when it should be relatively simple to find and change horses.

After all, one can "borrow" the enemy's without assistance... why not use your own?

same thing happend to me...
ordering dismout works fine
but when i said mount horses(4) error appeared saying something about C++ visual basic....
i lost my army!! grrrr
