Hope these suggestions are helpful and feasible.

I am fully in love with this game and would absolutely LOVE any of these things added.

1) Add string to bows and add a sound to it when it is being stretched (i have HOTS for the sound of rope being stretched (like in Morrowind).

2) make the use of lances on horseback more realistic e.g. a person mounted on horseback with lance, cannot attack enemy on their sides and it kind of looks odd.

3) i like how arrows stick actually "stick" in the bodies, but i do not like an enemy running around as normal with arrows in his body. Suggestions: Make the arrow that actually kills an enemy stick in the body, but all others just "disappear" like in other games (e.g. morrowind- i keep refering to morrowind cause that was one of my fav rpg games) and maybe add a more stronger "thumping" sound effect when an arrow kills an enemy (like in stronghold except for the "swooshing"). Another suggestion, give an animation to an enemy that is wounded while having arrows in his body like a crippled animation.

And how about making a headshot on an enemy without any headgear instant kill?

4) graphics (mentioned in graphics poll so i would not go into this topic though i would really like an improvement in the world map i.e. add life, different textures for different parts of the world).

5) this is a very minor thing, but how about making headshots with melee weapons on an enemy head without any headgear.

6) Getting damaged when falling off a horse (not severely, just around 5 points to give some realistisity).

7) Increase the loudness of a melee weapon hitting another melee weapon when being parried or blocked.

8. maybe add diagonal swings animations to melee weapons like two or one handed sword or an axe (like in the upcoming Conan game).

I REALLY hope you, armagan, consider any or most of these suggestions.

1. I believe that bow flexing animations and strings aren't there, because they can't be animated or something. I don't know what's going on there.

2. At the moment, a person who does suh a thing with a lance will do little, if any damage. It's realistic, but it's another matter to get the Ai to behave realistically.

3. I like the way how you can have several arrows sticking into a living body. A bit unrealistic maybe, but it makes for good screenshots. Although i do think if an arrow does less than 5 damage or something, it should bounce off instead of sticking.

4. Will probably be done anyway.

5. Melee headshots do do more damage, just the effect isn't as pronounced as in bodyshots.

6. Been suggested a couple of times before, i dunno, maybe.

7. Battles are far too quiet at the moment. We need semi-random grunts and shouts when people swing their weapons. More sounds for various things too. Running while in chain mail, or hitting a fully armoured guy with a club should all have distinct noises.

8. I don't really see what diagonal swings might add.

Apparently Armagan reads most, if not all suggestions, so don't worry.
 
They're all interesting ideas, and worth considering.

One suggestion that I heartily agree with is the combat effects sounds are too weak, indistinct, mild, banal, etc.

Weapons sounds need to improved: heavy CLANNNNG as plate armor deflects a hit, distinct THUDDDDD as couched lance damage is delivered, etc.

I've brought these up too many times to want to cover it again...
 
The biggest thing is the crouched lance sound.... There isnt one!

This should be one of the most splendid noises to hear but yet theres nothing!?!?! I always have to look to see if ive even hit them



Sound should be at the top of the list on things to fix
 
thanks for the replies.I agree with u all. After typing up my first post, i realised that i forgot to mention how quite the battles are; wimpy grunts (in high pitched voice) made by the warriors when they get hit, no sound differentiation between hittting metal or leather armor by melee weapons in fact, there is hardly any differentiation except the difference in sounds between a projective hitting or a melee wepon hitting a warrior. The addition of warrior cries and roars when charging and attacking an enemy would be awsome and even more awsome if u were able to make battle cries during the battle (not every time, as it may get annoying, but maybe when charging on horse and after gaining top speed, u make a battle cry as u charge an enemy).

If a warrior wears a leather headgear and he got shot in the head, u would hear a loud "thump" or a loud "ringing" or "humming" noise when wearing metal headgear. These sounds can be slightly more quiter for any other body part. There definately should be a distinct couched lanced damage. Maybe an extra ringing sound when hitting metal armor (with a doppler effect applied e.g. after charging a warrior with a lance, u hear clear loud ringing sound, and as u move further away from him, the ringing effect fades off slowly) or an extra loud "THUD" when hitting armour other than metal.

I am not saying that all these things are feasible, but the point i am trying to make is that the variety of sounds would just give the game an *EXTRA* layer of atmosphere and make it more fun to battle ur rivals.
 
War cries....

Screaming, yelling etc.

Give the fights as much stining filthy brawling realism as possible. Giving an extra layer of sound can only improve this but I don't think there is a game like this that emulates skirmishing this well.
 
so true...

i have downloaded sound mod a few hours ago and boy is it good. Does not fulfil ALL the improvements in sound (like i hoped), but nevertheless, it is still a major sound improvement mod and sword clashes are especially much more satifying.
 
Well, i will agree that the sight of a peasant woman running toward me witha javelin sticking out of her throat is a bit odd. I would think she would have other things to worry about.

Maybe some missiles shouldnt stick and the larger throwing objects shouldnt stick unless they kill.
 
^ On the other hand, sometimes the effect looks very cool. A khergit stumbling after me with a javelin through his shoulder or stomach makes me grin an evil grin every time. :twisted:
