SP - General Holding courts: its a must

Users who are viewing this thread

While you're at peace, you the faction leader, King or Emperor, choose your style or even the Great Lord, Archon... should rule over your domains, right?

Holding courts would be a great addition not just for immersive, but create challenges and decisions for players because not all of them should be easy to make, the list of what would be petitioners:

As Lord (vassal):
  • Wealthy citizens (notables - wealth merchants, tenants - village notables, some random peasants, maybe?)
  • Wanderers - companions wanting get into your service (pledge of sword)
  • Your family members
  • Governor: tax issues and trade
  • Blacksmiths: offering a gift for their suzerain, a weapon or armor they crafted
As RULER (King, Emperor or a luck dude with no kingdom that got his hand on a easy fief):
  • Wealthy citizens (notables - wealth merchants, tenants - village notables, some random peasants, maybe?)
  • Wanderers - companions wanting get into your service (pledge of sword)
  • Your family members
  • Lords (AI nobles) - swear fealty in exchange of land
  • Mercenaries - fiefless cland and kingdomless clans, mercenaries companies offering their services
  • Vassals: settle dispute over land against rivals or friends alike
  • Governor: tax issues and trade
  • Blacksmiths: offering a gift for their suzerain, a weapon or armor they crafted or crown

That's waht I thought on some points, if anyone has more to contribute please reply and let's make healthy talk over it

Best regards,

It would be rather interesting to have to deal with petty disputes like you did back in Warband (it was optional) because it makes you actually "feel" like a king, your opinion matters as does your word. Also it would not take a whole lot to implement, mostly just typing involved, write up a whole bunch of random issues that can pop up if you decide to "hold court" for a few days so your peasants and lords can air their grievances... Then either deal with it or ignore it for bonuses to relations, security, etc.

I dont think they will do it however, too hard to type.

settle dispute over vassals could mean end rivalries too

A liege´s options to Settle disputes:
* Support A or B
* Compromise
* Demand "First Blood" duel
* Demand duel to the death

Would be cool to watch high-stakes AI duels

As a vassal - you should be able to enter liege-court with your own disputes.

Depending on what political system you decide on ?

If a Monarchy / Dictator , yes a court, If democracy then a senate, If a Theocracy then religious advisors ?

if Progressive-anarchy then a Star chamber with Inquisitors and daily disappearances ... LOL

Ooo this +1 but also obviously add duels to the game for the player, maybe tie it into romancing too
