Regular
so last night about 20 of us, both nK, AV and Hoboknight partook in a quite fun gamemode we invented on the fly called Assassinate The Lord. Now all those who took part knows we had some major rule issues and planning to sort out, so im opening up this thread for suggestions to the gamemode Base.

Il quickly detail the parameters from what me worked on last night, then you all throw your suggestions in and we will work on getting this Game mode up to scratch and publicly tested in the coming weeks.

Teams: Swadians And Sarranids
Map: Village
Disposition: Sarranids Defend, Swadians Attack.
Respective Objectives: Sarranids to assassinate the appointed Swadian Lord. Swadians to protect the Lord until the time expires.
Lives/Respawns/Loadout: Sarranids have unlimited Respawns as they portray the Village folk, Swadians have no respawns as they are a small contingent. Loadout As follows.
Time: 10 Minutes

Swadian Lord: Coat Of Plates, No Helm, Best Boots, Best Gloves. Choice Of Weapon. (Can Choose Mount)
x2 Swadian Royal Guard: Haubergeon, Full Helm, Best Gloves, Best Boots. Choice Of Weapon.
Swadian Escort: Red Cloth (Cant Remember Name),Standard Helm, Standard Gloves, Standard Boots. Choice Of Weapon.

Hashshashin Master: Archer Padding, Open Turban, No Gloves, Basic Boots. One Handed Sword Or Bow.
Hashshashin: Archer Padding, Desert Turban, No Gloves, Basic Boots. One Handed Sword Or Bow.

Teams have to be stacked in favour of the Sarranids as its a village scenario, but the swadians are given more than enough firepower to compensate. Now for the rules.

When the teams spawn, You gather to elect the Leader. Or if easier you elect before the round starts by everyone sitting in spectator. After the Sarranids have their elected Master, They join the team and get ready. Then the Swadians elect a lord and two bodygaurds. Once selected, they join the team and get their respective loadouts.

Once both leaders have signaled ready, it begins. Now, The Sarranids can only attack the contingent two at a time, so pair up. Dont cluster around the lord as this can be seen as begging for gold and the guards will kick and punch you out of the way. If more than two Sarranids attack the lord, this can prompt the guards to go ape **** and kill everyone. Use the rooftops to stage cunning ambushes and try lure them down tight allyways for easier kills.

Notes for the swadians. You cant kill the Sarranids on sight, that is considered Slaying an innocent Villager and may spark an uprising. If a Sarranid is killed outright unlawfully for no good reason, The Master may opt for a Peasant Uprising whenre all **** hits the metaphorical fan and decends into a mindless killing frenzy. When the villagers get in your lords way, give them a kick or a punch to move them along, if they fight back. Kill them.

The lord has to do a few circuits of the town, he cant sit in a corner rusting his platemail. The Sarranids cant all cluster the lord, like previously mentioned, this can make the guards edgy and they will outright murder your turban wearing asses.

Please guys, if i have missed anything, let me know. Please add your ideas to this and make it abit more solid. Hopefully Friday night we will stange another dry run of this so we can fine-tweak the Base and Core rules.

It was mad fun. We just need to iron it out and work out the kinks..

Very good description Sloper.  One small correction though, with regards to the Swadian Lord...I was using the second highest Horseman armor (Maille and Surcoat) since I felt it fit the time period a little better.  Also I did not bring a shield since I felt that was too encumbering for a leisurely walk around my fief.

Something to consider is that there should be no Swadian Infantry.  Swadian Horsemen have decent swords (though no two-handers beyond a bastard sword, which is accurate if one considers this being the Crusader era) but also are nerfed in athletics....which would help the Assassins in a movement boost, so to speak.  Similarly the crossbowmen can't run extremely fast.  The only bane (or boon, depending how you look at it) is that the infantry (horsemen) would not have access to maille armor, which would not be unheard of for a city militia anyway.

It has potential.

Edit:  Maybe the Royal Body Guards can be infantry (to allow for the haubergon and even the top weapons) but the average guard must be a horsman with a Gambeson or lower.

I like the feedback Baron. I will make changes to the loadouts. Il wait for abit more input before i decide to edit it yet as im going out tonight and i dont want to be nerding all over the place.

Hypothetical Thoughts:

Now if only we could have a town map (even village itself) but with AI peasants wandering around like in single player... The Lord would then have to "speak" (perhaps just be in the radius for a given amount of time, like a flag) to three or so specific AI characters spread out across the town...along whose route assassins could be waiting.  Dreams...

It would be cool then if the lord was assassinated that the guards who remain have to kill the assassin in the time remaining to get points (similar to how a defending team on search and destroy gets some points for saving one of the siege weapons).

Oh, by the way, the red cloth item you are blanking a name on is called a Gambeson.

Sloper. How many times do we have to tell you?? You have to add *in a British accent* after every sentence. Otherwise you make no sense.

edit: Seriously though. I've been saying this for a while. 100% yes vote. Though the Lord as a really good NPC would be ok, too.

We've actually done the basic 'Assassinate/Protect the Lord' in our 22nd training for months, it's great fun.

didn't the hashashins target mostly other muslims, not crusaders?

Yes, but it is more fun this way.

SadandHappy....its all about advertising .  Besides, it is only now with the Sarranids that it feels right.

'Twas fun when me and John did this, but we assanitated the Rhodoks.

Anyways if you guys need a server, I'd be glad to help host this game up. Once I get home and can try testing it out of course...

This would be too awesome.

Looked interesting until about half way through where you outline a bunch of roleplay rules, at which point one of my eyebrows started to raise.

So this is what you guys do with your spare time...

Yeah, it's just craziness to attempt to bring some immersion into a gamemode.

Verily. We just decided on the fly to Roleplay, not with the Ye olde speak, but actually play like the characters. At one point we disamred ourselves and blocked to look like pilgrims to gain access to the Mosque. Then we scattered when the swadians backs were turned to find and assassinate the lord.

Its a game mode that with time and patience can be a great time for both teams.

: In A British Accent :

Yeh, Sod You Theaq.
