He said there was no point in lurking on the forums except when M&B is updated and stuff. He's kinda like Jstrange in that regard. (who i also haven't seen in yonks)
Not explosive.
It has a wonderful UV transmission, so can be used for quite sophisticated optics. Hard to work with though - crystals are too easy to break
Not too dangerous though - unless ingested of course. Though it is a good idea to use respirator if LiF dust is around...
No it's not explosive, but i'd wager making LiF from its constituent parts, Li and F would be a pretty violent reaction.
But LiF is a salt. not table salt, but a kind of salt. It's very similar to NaCl (table salt) in chemical properties though.
LiF is likely dangerous to eat because of the F- ion. Fluoride does some crazy ****. It will react with pretty much anything (even some noble gases), can't be stored in glass because it dissolves it, and it kinda ****s you up if you get it on you. (If you come into contact with hydrofluoric acid, it's pretty much curtains.)
Basically, it'c clorine's nasty twin.
Come to think of it, that's probably why they want you to spit out toothpaste instead of swallowing it.
